Drum Synth wanted

I have EZD Nashville Kit and AD2.  Now I need drums for more traditional stuff, I record folk and need some simple stuff, almost like a polka (only not quite).

The drums I have have very simple beats, then immediately jump up to rock and funky beats.

Thanks

Yes, the ad packs cover a lot of genre's if you just want midi patterns. The older Sonar drum apps have some good basic stuff also.

I prefer Toontrax Superior Drummer (which also plays EZ drummer kits) to AD. Have you checked out the other EZ drummer expansion kits as well? I believe they do an indie/folk pack.

Which kits do you have with AD2?  A lot of their presets are pretty hyped (which is a good starting point/shortcut if you're looking for a particular sound), but they also have dry settings (or at the very least you can just bypass all of the processing/effects) if you're looking for something more natural.

The Black Oyster, Vintage Dry, Indie, or Fairfax ADPaks might be worth checking out.

I find some of the AD2 add-on percussion instruments very useful for traditional music. Particularly the cajon and the pandeira, which is the nearest thing I've yet found to a "proper" tune-driving tambourine.

The dry vintage kit is very useful as well as is the prog rock kit of all things - it's well balanced and fairly dry.

Ready-made MIDI patterns, not so much. They're built around styles where the band follow the drums rather than the drums/percussion following the melody line as is more usual in European-based traditional music. Though for an "old fashioned" style of drumming march patterns can be worth looking at, just tweak the timing and tempo and simplify or add to the patterns as required.

You may want to take a look at Groove Monkee midi grooves.  You should be able to get simple folk type drums with EZD.

Depending how much you want to get into sound design, AD2 can manipulate the daylights out of a stock drum sound. Similarly AD2 can be fed with any MIDI track or step sequencer, so pattern modification is often quicker that way.

Barring the above, AD2 has a lot of kits/patterns available, but in the long run "tweaking" tends to be quickest (just has a learning curve with it).

Great.  I've been thinking about adding some more MIDI packs from toontracks, but maybe Jamstix would be more bang for the buck.
