Destroyer

Friends,

Playing with fr Destroyer, an effects rack which has a free version with less effects than the paid commercial plug.

The free offering is worth the download for a few of the effects in the rack. Some are less than stellar.

Negatives for me are the distortion and bit crusher. Substandard and not what I would knee jerk go to for overdrive.

The delay is…meh…  Left, right, center. No modulation or tone control, even if many would have died to have this 30 years ago.

The compressor/limiter..  Hard to tell what it is doing. Very weak effect.

Positives are in the simple reverb. Just mono, but very smooth. Set up long decay times with dampening to take out hi end artifacts. Is a respectable unit, although not as many knobs and customizations as a Valhalla plug.

Flange and chorus are nice with a bit of tweaking. Note that the ratio knob in both is the rate control. Increasing predelay brings in stereo widening.

Noise gate works as well as a gate can work in our primitive early 21st century.

EQ parametric is hair triggered to add resonance frequencies to everything. Can get lost in the pre and post choices. Very colorful if not too colorful. Can back off the resonance filters if overkill.

The download is a rar file and password protected. Webpage doesn’t clearly give you the public password, which is:   rfmusic.net

Cheers,

John
