Please fix V-Vocal
This is quite frustrating. V-Vocal is constantly causing Sonar Platinum to crash. I prefer it to the cut down version of Melodyne and really don't appreciate the issues I have with it.

Sadly, VVocal belongs to Roland, who no longer own Cakewalk, so it is unlikely o be developed further. Cakewalk can't, as they do not own the code.
In fact, Ro;and seemed to show little or no interest in VVocal when they did own Cakewalk, so it is unlikely that they will develop it further, either.
I do think it is worth upgrading to the full version of Melodyne if at all possible.. It is a remarkable piece of kit when you get usd to the new way of working.

I don't think anyone who's updated to Melodyne Editor regrets it. It's way ahead of V-Vocal on so many levels.
I became very facile with V-Vocal, it did what I wanted it to do, and Essentials wasn't as capable, so it took me a long time before I upgraded. When I did, I kicked myself for not having done it sooner.

Vvocal was always a crash-fest for me, even before Platinum. As others have said, it's Roland's code and they never seemed to do anything further with it - which is a real pity, as it was very good at some tasks. I really liked the manual control you had with it.
Even though I purchased the full version of Melodyne, if Roland ever updated Vvocal, I might even buy it, as I do think it has its own unique usability. I fear however, that it's not going to see any further development, as Roland seems to have got out of software development altogether.
So, as I see it, there's not Much Cakewalk can do about it.

Some of us have no choice but continue and extend our self-kick refrain... I tried out Melodyne when they first released their polyphonic capability and being their primary product I'm sure it is growing up well... But I'm still wondering what these current problems are. Other than the lack of development, VV continues to work fine here... I guess I'm lucky in something, huh? ;-)

For the OP . . . (16 posts) not sure how new you are to Sonar and using V-Vocal, but I wonder if you are aware that it is more stable (at least for me) when using shorter clips . . . eg. you probably shouldn't use it for a 3 minute vocal clip, rather break the clip into verse, chorus, verse 2 etc . . . I would give that a try, and see if the crashing ceases.
As stated by others, I haven't created any new V-Vocal since I upgraded to Melodyne Editor . . . though I do use it when re-working an older project, and then it still works well on my system, to tweak those old V-Vocal tracks.
(PS, when using it for long editing periods . . . Ctrl-S . . . often)

V-Vocal held the #1 position in causes of crash reports for a period of time. I assume that's one of the reasons Cakewalk was fine about bundling Melodyne, although the ARA protocol is bearing fruit (e.g., Drum Replacer) that V-Vocal never would have.
