If the message came from out of the blue (ie it worked before) the first thing you need to do is run chkdsk /R from an administrative command prompt. A virus and malware scan may be a good precaution as well.

*snert* To the OP, some more details would be very helpful such as the version you are using (and your version history on the system and in general). Where is the messge comming from (Windows or Sonar or something else)? Are you using CCC? Is this a fresh install or is it an old install that has just decided to throw the error? and pretty much anything else you think may be relevant. Also system specs could be relevant and whether you are having any other problems with other programs (or the system is acting weird at all in other ways). Really though... without more info Craig (and the message) likely gave you pretty much the best course of action. Backup any existing projects to an external drive (using Per Project Audio folders if possible) and/or create a system image then uninstall and reinstall Sonar. Use something like CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller if you cannot access the Sonar uninstaller. Welcome to the forum.

BTW... I seem to recall getting this message in the past with other programs I was screwing around with. Usually it would pop up if I interrupted an installation or something else screwed up the installation. Removal of what had been installed then reinstalling properly fixes the issue (thus the message). If it's a program that's been installed for a while and all of a sudden it threw that error then yeah... that's screwy and I would be concerned that the hard drive was failing or becoming corrupt.

Hi, im using SONAR X2 Producer, gavent tried re-installing from original CD as im looking for an easier way to solve this issue without needing to go thru the troublesome uninstalling and reinstalling of the SONAR. i've done a registry cleaning before this issue pops up from the sonar when i launch it up yesterday. any ways to fix this issue without going thru the reinstalling steps?

If you are saying that the problem occurred after you did a registry cleaning, that is likely your problem. If your "registry cleaner" or you made a backup of the registry prior to cleaning it, the obvious solution is to restore the backup. You may be able to accomplish the same thing by using a Windows restore point. http://www.howtogeek.com/171633/why-using-a-registry-cleaner-wont-speed-up-your-pc-or-fix-crashes/

Registry cleaners are notorious for screwing up previously working and configured applications. 1. First solution is to revert to a backup the registry cleaner made. If it didn't make a backup. 2. Just reinstall from your disc. You don't need to uninstall prior to that.

To add using a registry cleaner on windows 10 is total madness right now. The apps need to take some time to stabize and so does windows.

Re-installing from the original CD may give you a quick "repair" option where the whole program doesn't need to be reinstalled from scratch. Trust the program and what Windows is telling you and don't try to get too smart by messing with the registry.
