Industrial Sunset 2

Hi all, it's been a few weeks...I've been off creating a new form of combined sound and vision art form for my Phd (basically it's video painting based on landscape painting and those sorts of ideas) and here is the first finished piece https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BDwSK327QM&feature=youtu.be Industrial Sunset 2.

Whilst it is not music per se...it is musical.  I've taken the location audio and placed it into a granular synthesizer, which creates a very musical like effect particularly when birds sing and even motors which transform into low growling synthesizer sounds.  The granular audio is combined with the cleaned-up location audio...of course this is all done in Sonar Platimum...which Cakewalk let me test for free over a 3 month trial period...I must say it feels quite nice this new version of Sonar, although I haven't really used any of the new features but the price of upgarding is more than covered by the mix recall function-there you go Cake I've given you a plug.

I've finally figured out RMix, which of course has been discontinued but is ****en excellent for cleaning up location sound.  And like the dip**** I am, where I have been sticking to incorrect compression settings in mastering I've worked out the best way to work out attack and release times is via the transients and time ruler...finally the master sounds awesome.

Anyway enjoy!

Hi Ben,

Nice work with the granular stuff... What synth did you use for that? The visuals were good too

Hi Andy...sorry have been busy...and haven't checked in till today...to answer your question...Padshop by Steinberg...very cool and only 80 bucks oz.

Thanks for watching and commenting...I'm sorry I don't do much listening of other peoples work...my ASD/ADHD makes it really hard for me to enjoy much these days...except what I grew up with...but I will try.

Cheers Ben
