Slow to Rapid tick, tick, tick, tick . . . .

I have Sonar 8.5  --> I think I had X1 but I can't find it.  Haven't used it in many years, but starting again.
Setup is Windows, a notebook, and USB M-Audio keyboard ("Keystation 88").
Just using the audio portion so far.  I haven't gotten to recording, yet.

With the TTS-1 synth and latency of about 1/2 second, there is a tick, tick, tick . . . . which is actually more complex than ticking but that is as close as I can describe it - about 2 ticks per second.  Reducing the latency to almost nothing (about 49 ms.) increases the "ticking" to about 8 ticks per second.

What is causing the "ticking?"  How can I stop it?

    Never mind.

Switched to MME.  Took the latency way down.

No problem.  Surprising how important choosing the right driver is.

Glad you found a fix. Next time consider posting in the SONAR area at the top of the forum. This area is for discussions about the forum software.
