Using Automation

I was goofing around with Sonar the other day and used Automation to fade out a track. After doing so I noticed I could no longer Slice or erase any part of that track.

There was a fairly long lead in that I wanted to removed, but after the automation It would not let me. Other tracks were fine, but that one was a no go. Is that normal or is automation something that should only be used in a finished track?

Did you use automation or did you use the fade in/out on the track? What you will need to do is goto the filter for clips not volume and you should be able to move the clip. If you use the fade in/out it wont goto automation for editing.

All I did was right click the track fader and selected automation write enable, then just moved the fader as I wanted it to fade out.

Yep thats all it takes to change the track filter to volume automation. It needs to be on clips if you want to edit clips.
