Are you talking about in the console view and the audio interface output faders? You can have projects with as many or even no master faders at all. You put them there in the buss pane. You can add as many busses as you like and call them anything you like and point them to anything in the audio interfaces output options or to one of the other busses.. But the audio interface section that is on the far right in console view are put there by Sonar and the interface drivers. If you don't like looking at them drag the side bar to hide them..

Are these your pictures? " /> " /> hint: on flickr select the individual picture and it will open in a new window click the curved arrow icon lower right to share that single photo under share photo to: select "HTML embed" highlight and copy the link to your computer clipboard (ctrl & C) click the image insertion icon in this forum paste the copied link there (ctrl & V) another hint: "inspect element" in a browser lets anyone see the hyperlink behind the failed picture icon exposing your entire picture collection at that web address, which is apparently what you copied. So be careful what you share.

In the top picture that is what I metion in my first reply,, the faders on the right are interface controls. I see you have not created a Master buss. Those Masters are what control the 1/2 3/4 and 5/6 outputs on your interface, You need a "real" master bus in front of that. The second picture, those are the drum parts when you choose that option when loading a soft synth. You can choose just a stereo output and use the GUI mixer if all those tracks bother you. That option is great if your wishing to apply different effects and EQ to the indavidual parts. . But I see you have your Buss pane hidden. It's at the bottom ,,look for the line and drag it up and insert a new stereo buss, name it master etc.

OP it's your "interface" and how many "outputs" you have ticked in preferences,so just "tick" one [pair L -R] and you should only have 1 master,It happened to me with a N.I. KA6 I had 2 separate outputs that kept showing on the console page, anyway you can just"scroll"them out of the screen. PS Cactus knows wayy more than me so take his advice instead!

The label "Master" on the mains outputs is probably there by mistake. Mistake or not, it's confusing. I reported this a while back and it ended up as a feature request to change it to "Mains" or "Output": http://forum.cakewalk.com/m3097903.aspx

first, i need to thank all of you for the advice you gave me, i thought i was the only one who get's confused at some of the things that cakewalk does. i started using cakewalk stuff (guitar tracks, i think) in 2001. i've worked my way through all the sonars to where i am now at platinum. i just released a solo record where the only part that was not sonar was mastering. anyhow, i do believe you also helped me with a major problem i'm having with my interface. focusrite scarlett 6i6. since '01 i've used 5 different interfaces (is interfaces a word?) and have had nothing that is as complicated as this thing. i've had it since the spring, however, my summer was spent dealing with the record release and a gig in NY, so i haven't had time to work on anything. now i have the time and i'm about to throw this thing in the woods. someone gave me an idea while answering my "master" question. thank you all very much. i wanted to send a response to everyone, however, if this post does not address everyone please let me know.

Joey, There are some really good tutorials out there on the scarlett and its mix control Here's one from utube: MIXCONTROLand also here's the manual here. It's not all that bad once you get used to it and it has some really usuable features. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater (yet anyways).

Wow! With all these feature requests that I have contributed to, or voted for, being implemented lately, I almost feel obligated to upgrade.

You got to, Kev, if you are still on X3e as your signature says. By now so many new cool, workflow-improving features are in Platinum (apart from the fixes) that you are really missing out on something

I'm running 3 DAW computers. Upgrading is no simple matter.

so do I (main, backup, live DAW) but believe me it has become so much easier since command center (especially since the update all button of v1.1) ... make sure you set the download path of CCC to a network path or external hard drive so you only have to download once, and the update itself is nothing like in the x3 days (no more click and and wait, click and wait) ... I even kept X3 on each system but haven't opened it in on main & backup DAW for 6 months ... only the live system still runs of X3 (due to pending tests of the playlist feature vs our live setup)
