HELP!

I have been trying for months to load my Music Creator 2003 onto my new computer but have constantly run into a directx 8.1 problem.  I finally corrected that problem but when I tried to load my Music Creator it asked for the serial number on the back of the jewel box it came in.  We have been remodeling the house and it has been lost in the turmoil.  I am still looking for it but if I can't find it, I will lose several complex arrangements I have been working.  What can I do?  My daughter bought me a different music program but it is ponderous and difficult to work with.  Please help me with this.

If the product was registered, the credentials should be in your store account. If the product is not shown in your store account it could be because the account you just created uses a different email address than your previous account. Here is an FAQ about products missing from your account http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3148924

thanx.. I'll look into it.  However, I am a technoNeanderthal... wish me luck.  My old email address got screwed up somehow and, by the time I got access it had been switched to yahoo and they deleted it.

It's possible to find the serial number in the program file. Another user years ago was trying to find his SN to reload, and with a little snooping, I was able to find where it was in the file.
I'm not on my music computer now, but I'll take a look later tomorrow and try to reproduce the previous result.
Stay tuned.

If the old machine is still available, the credentials are stored in the registry. I assumed the old machine was unavailable. If the old machine is still around, check in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWRE\Cakewalk Music Software there should be entries for Music Creator 2003 which contain both the product key and serial number. I don't have a version that old or I could give you the exact path.

If all else fails.......You should also be able to buy the most recent version of Music Creator and once it;s installed, you should be able to load all the old files created in the older versions without any issues.

Thanx everyone!  I've gotten my Music Creator up and running... almost.  I can't get it to play back the arrangements I was working on.  I punch play and it moves through the music but no sound.  Oh, well.

Just a matter now of getting the sound card working properly..... check drivers, do a re-boot.... be sure you don't have things muted.... You can also try loading and playing a DIFFERENT project. If it plays but the one you want doesn't.... my solution is to copy and paste the tracks into a brand new project you create.  I've had that very thing happen a time or two after a crash.... copy and paste the files and waaa laaa, you're up and running in short order.  Then simply delete the old project files.

you may well be sending your output to a valid output on your soundcard, but one which is not connected to speakers or headphones.  check in MC to make sure you're not sending the output (in the MASTER) to DIGITAL OUT, or SPDIF, for example instead of the main stereo outputs.
