I would be a big fan of any company that says, "We will not take pre-orders on anything that is not completely done. All the distribution things are being put together between the pre-sale and release". I am not in any way saying anyone is not going to make good in a timely manner. Just sayin'...

I'm using it, it is great and not vapor but I'm saying those are not dates to set on your calendar.  A dealer needed to post a specific date and did so, even though we don't have one.  It is set to be released in October, just not at any specific date at this point.  In other words, the sky is not falling, we're just not pushing a specific date in October.

Edit - we've even come in early on the most recent release, so I really wouldn't get all that worried over this.

I'm so grateful for the amazing array of magical tools we've seen unfold into our lives over the last couple decades...

don't understand the arrogance, sense of entitlement, and mean spiritedness of many mememers these days... mistakes have been made...  this frackin' stuff is hard... some succeed, some fail... but beating a dead horse for what... fun?  Is it fun?  Is flaming people a genetic trait?   Is humility a lost art?

we are soooo lucky to have all we have...

I come from a generation of musicians whose only hope to record was to pay piles of money or be signed by a label to be able to go in to a REAL studio. And sometimes the highest tech piece in there was a 2 track tape Ampex! You were lucky if you had more than 4 channels on the mixer! I saved my nickels and dimes to be able to afford 2 stereo cassette decks and a small Radio Shack mixer. I spent hours recording on one machine and bouncing back and forth between the two to build my multitrack masterpieces. I'm glad I went thru that process, though, because I learned so much about mic placement, sibilance, level settings, etc! When 4 track came out it was the epitome of the Pro Tools revolution for bedroom songwriters everywhere. Then George Martin bouncing the Beatles back and forth on 2 4 tracks for Sgt. Pepper. Along came 8 track and the rest is history.......
It is so funny to see people on these forums moaning about having to wait so long for a software upgrade! I would bet that the amount of brainpower to develop software for recording is equal if not more than it took to develop 1 track tape recording in to the 512 track monstrosities we see now a days.
Trust me on this! We have it better now than we have ever had it when it comes to setting up a home recording rig that is very capable of churning world class recordings.!!!!! If I had this technology when I was a kid, there is no telling what could have been accomplished in the collective community.
BTW, not much has changed over the years. We still spend piles of money or have to get signed in order to get great recordings!!!!!!!    LOL!

Well if there is a delay in getting it out Sonoma Wire Works have set the bar pretty high with the Drumcore 4 debacle. 22 months since they started taking pre orders and still waiting!

I am sure IK will come through with this, the ST3 delays were interminable but once they took preorders it was out as promised.

I am looking forward to Amplitube 4 but I can wait a few weeks.

I feel the same way Sidroe.  I could not image back in those days, what we would have at our disposal today.  I never quite get the extreme drama over these types of software events.  It's not like much of this really matters in real life.

Ditto for me! I had 32 tracks of Tascam DA38's and a Mackie 24-8, when my mind was blown by this 20 year old kid's album, done completely in Pro Audio 9 and Sound Forge. He couldn't play guitar nor keys and "assembled" it all a note or two at a time! SHEEESH! I traded studio time and access to my gear/paid him for lessons, and immediately bought a PC and Sonar. It still impresses me how many things are so easy -so accessible, now. It's an amazing time to be a musician (just passed my 52nd anniversary of being a pro)with a veritable studio in the box!

I went the Adat way with a Soundtracs Topaz 8 mixer when the money was there. Now I have 3 of them and a BRC staring at me all the time as if to say, " Gosh, how come you don't want to play with us anymore?" I invested in the famous Adat Edit card so I could shuttle my audio recordings to the computer to edit and master. The next jump was to a MOTU 24io with the PCI card. Then the mixer disappeared!! Everything went to the box! Then there is the computer upgrades and on and on etc...............
Holy Crap! Maybe I ought to dig out those 2 cassette decks and the Radio Shack mixer. Seems like it was easier then! LOL!!!

Sidroe,

Feel the pain...

Got 30k worth of hardware crap that is totally obsolete in this day and age. Literally rusting away in the salt air here on the ocean. Even destroys the antique value. My Juno 6 metal grill disintegrating with mold and rust. Juno whatever else and Prophet real 2D floppy, Boss and Roland hardware modules going south... Have all the Proteus racks at $900 apiece behind glass. Korg and Casio boxes about okay for museum pieces.

Always was getting laid off and fired as an aircraft mechanic. Biggest obstacle was to load up and drag artifacts of receding technology across the country and back. Took up a whole room, so had to get a more expensive appartment to house the antiques.

Was sweating over the VHS ADAT but never bit for the 4K price tag. Was so cool at the time and 8 tracks.

Crystal ball could have saved me a lot of money and grief for the family.

John

Ah, John, the old days! Simpler times when our best friends were Opie and Beaver!!!! I notice that anyone that mentions they have thousands of dollars of old gear laying around in the way never say they want to sell anything, myself included. There's just something about having that gear around that makes us all feel secure, I guess!! (or just not wanting to admit we threw away a lot of money).

Sid,

You nailed it.

Would not sell a piece of rust in the museum. Still got an MMT8 midi sequencer on display. Somehow makes the downstairs look more full.  I don't fire up the patriarchs but every several years or so to see if rust or failed lithium battery has taken them down.

Even have the DCB conversion box for Roland DCB to midi. Terrible piece of hardware, and a big defeat for Roland when they bet that DCB protocol would kill midi out of the market. Can still get the Juno 6 to stutter midi commands. The box gathering rust also, but at this rate, will outlast me.

Useless, but sure look cool to non musical guests.

The dark years of 2008-2011 (for me at least)of my Chapter 7 and all that I sold to stay afloat and attempts to keep the house, really cleaned out my gear!
Now however, it's a clean slate, and I have been selling off everything I don't use, for whatever I think I will. It actually seems like a really good thing.....now, though there are lots of pieces I would love to buy back or find "replacements" for, like my Taylor 514ce, and 1979 D28, U87,  Wurly 140a, ....and old Fender amps....to say nothing of the 34 guitars I'd collected over the previous 4 decades. Uh oh, I'd better stop here! LOL

Just had a listen to a demo of the new acoustic simulator pedal, what does everyone think of that? I thought the top end sounded passable but the low end sounded all wrong....anyway might be nice as an effect in itself, without necessarily being a replacement for an acoustic.

Thanks Sid. I do think of it that way and am appreciative of the more refined choices I've made. 15 years ago I was still buying things to impress or get clients. Now I buy things that suit me well. It's working out very well.

Gas got the best of me on this one. I have a Stealth pedal along with the stomp I/O volume and two button switch. Great thing for me is Amplatube can be authorized on more than one computer so I have it on a laptop and use it in line with my amp or monitor.  I guess I'm just justifying another gas induced acquisition. I think I may have said I would never be an early adopter....belay that.

Like Clint I'm hoping A4 is a marked improvement...especially in cab simulations and "pushing air".

Currently I've switched over to a combo of either S-Gear or Guitar Rig with ReCabinet for most ITB stuff.

I also still use S-Gear most of the time; however, the reason I purchased A4 is for the new cabinet feature.  What tipped my hand to purchase was the new cab elements ability to change and to mix and match different speakers in a the same cab.  So in theory I will be able to put a Alnico Blue with a Celestion Greenback or a Celestion Gold with a Jensen to tweak the sound the best for a mix.

Ya know...if not for the huge advantage an amp sim provides of being able to work on a guitar take after the fact, I would be totally happy with my HD500X. I've been trying to make some presets with A3, S-Gear and the HD500X that would sound pretty much the same, and I'm having a hard time getting the amp sims alone to sound as good as the pod. Of course with extra Eqs and my favorite delay and reverb plugins...it's possible.
Makes me gas for the new Helix or the upcoming Fractal AX8 a bit, but I feel the HD500X is very underrated as a recording solution. I'm not trying to derail the thread, just some thoughts after playing for an hour this morning with the 3 products.

Thanks for the + feedback, Clint. I've been thinking about getting an HD500x, even though I still want more individual pedals.

Heh, I don't have that problem. Ten or fifteen years ago I had neither the money to afford the computing power or other hardware (ADAT etc) to record myself at home without incredible frustration nor the songs that would warrant paying for studio time... well, maybe they did, IDK but with kids, running a business and so on I never found out.
I have a few inexpensive pieces if anyone is interested, like a Cooper MIDI sync. Thankfully I did get rid of my Yamaha QY-70, that thing drove me absolutely nuts because I didn't take the time to properly learn it. It's funny, when you are 8 to maybe 20 you have all the time and will to sit and learn anything and the world is your oyster... I am very happy with the cost to performance ratio of today! I own Amplitude 4 and will happily wait because Amplitude 3 works just fine!
Sid.. did you know Al McDonald? I think he was in the Macon scene. I hope so, he was a good guy, a studio musician.

I also have the HD500. I use it more for live than studio because it's near impossible to reamp with. I'll stick with A3 until 4 arrives. The 500 is a great tone machine once you master the workflow! Yes! I knew Al but have not seen him in years.
