[Fixed] [CWBRN-40021] Delay when using DXi soft synths on Sonar

Hi

I'm having an issue with delay when using DXi soft synths on Sonar, which was posted on Sonar forum on the thread
http://forum.cakewalk.com/Latency-with-DXi-soft-synths-on-Sonar-X3-m3291611.aspx

This happens only on Sonar X3e and Sonar Artist trial (it doesn't occur on Music Creator 6).
Also the issue doesn't occur with VST soft synths.

Description: After inserting Tempo changes on Sonar project, the input monitoring of DXi soft synths gets an unwanted delay.

Steps (by forum member azslow3, who reproduced the issue):

1.New project
2.Insert TTS-1
3.Play MIDI keys - everything is normal
4.Open Tempo view, add change let say at measure 3. For reproducibility, change 120 to 190
5.Play MIDI keys - everything is normal
6.Move time line to measure 5
7.Play MIDI keys. I get a delay from 2 up to 20-30 seconds (yes, seconds). Level meter on MIDI track react as expected, but sound is coming with the delay.

Expected results: the DXi instruments should sound on normal latency, when playing notes on midi keyboard.

Actual results: DXi instruments sound with abnormal latency, as described above, when the Now Time is set ahead of tempo change.
On other hand, the delay doesn't occur when the project is running or being recorded.
Also playing the project is a way to get DXi sounds back to normal latency, but Now Time must be next to the beginning.

Thanks

Best regards

Hi, Doktor Avalanche

Thanks for your response.
I checked 'Allow arm changes during playback/record' under Project/Recording, on Preferences, but that didn't work.

Thanks.

Hi

I'd like to say that Cakewalk support contacted me and they said they are aware of the problem and the issue is going to be fixed. At least it's possible to use VST instruments on these cases. Thanks.

Best regards.

Do you have a CWBRN number for this? Please paste if so. Thanks.

Hi Doktor Avalanche

Thanks, I have updated the title. I'm sorry I guess I was misunderstanding CWBRN with case number (from Cakewalk Support e-mail), as I got both e-mails (from Support and from Problem Report) on the same day.
There was also a newer case number related to the issue, which took attention from Cakewalk first, and I also thought that moderators would edit the topic if it were relevant.

Thanks again.

Best regards.

Mgustavo, your post a few weeks ago that Cakewalk's aware of the issue and is going to fix it is music to my ears!  Being relatively new to the world of Cakewalk support, how can I make sure I find out (or am notified) when that fix happens so I can apply it on my system?

Hi, cbarnabo!

I also am relatively new to CW support, but they told me the fix is 'on the line' to be fixed (sorry about my english), due to the large amount of issues being reported (that is, they don't have a cut-off date yet).

But I guess you could follow the monthly updates on CW site, where the new features and fixes are listed. I think this link could help:

Thanks, I'll start following that - right on the first page I see a techtip I could've used the other night and a Rapture update.

SONAR Platinum, Windows 10, Lenovo G505s laptop (AMD A10 2.50GHz, 8GB, 1TB HDD, Radeon HD 8650G), Tascam US-1800, Roland RD-2000, Novation Impulse-61 (not using Automap), Korg nanoKontrol2 (using AZSlow control surface integration), commonly used softsynths: VB3, Dimension Pro, SI-Electric Piano, Cakewalk TTS-1.  Recently retired Yamaha KX88
