    cool intro Gonzo

guitars sound awesome - no surprise there!

personally, I think the hat is a little on the bright side - actually, all of the cymbals are probably a little bright, JMO

man this reminds me so much of 80's prog!  very "Yes" sounding - I expected to hear some high tenor nonsense lyric vocals aka Anderson any time during the song!

    great stuff!

Wow, this is a keeper! Monstrous tone on the guitar, great playing, just great feel. A great performance from soup to nuts on this. I like the mix as it is, frankly.

Love it! Great tune and the drums sound fantastic. Of course, all the guitars do as well. I didn't hear anything I didn't like...

    thank you beagle......
yes, if i were to revisit this one,
i agree with the cymbals hats comment...
    but on any given system,
it is at least present, which was the intent.

i did not record the drums, that was done at another studio,
but i could probably dial in the EQ better now, than when i did this mix.

Nice one, it all sounds good.  Please tell me you are using a harmonizer on the guitar harmony parts and are not tracking them individually, that precisely.  Really enjoyed it from start to finish.

    thanks dan.....
those drums, were recorded with a roland VS2480 DAW, and then mailed snail mail to me on backup discs!

the drummer, took my demo (done with a machine) and played along with it...
i got the drum tracks from him, and started over from scratch with all my parts..
so, i'm literally playing with the drummer, matching his groove

    it was a great collab

You make that git sing and cry.  Beautiful, and I particularly enjoy the downtempo groove and harmonies.  Much more laid back than your usual (and to be honest, that suits my preferences just fine).

And great photo too! :)  I'd be worried that the top cabinet would vibrate off and fall. :P

    hey mark,
    thanks for listening!!

now, i NEVER use a harmonizer......

    don't even own one.

i like to do things the old fashioned way, just play them.
    to my ears,
    it just sounds more organic

    and if you listen closely,
    it's really not THAT tight,
i purposely play certain lines a bit different, or hold notes beyond where a 'producer' would say to cut them off,
just to illustrate the point that they ARE unique performances,
but like the stones have always done, and i'm a big stones fan,
two guitar parts are suppose to be really different from each other, but going in the same direction.

    and you know,
AH wasn't the first to do a stack like that,
it kinda makes sense, to spread the upper speakers left and right,
    but really,
when you are playing a 100watt marshall, thru a full stack,
how much diff will it really make??!!!!
    LOL

Great tune... as always.   The performance and tone are once again nailed.  Although... I hear a little more Satch/Vai than Holdsworth.  FWIW.   Like that's a bad thing.          Oh, and yeah, love the harmonies - great timing and blend.

Well done Bats. Your style and obvious attention to detail are bar setting. Nothing I can add to the acclamations above. (Apart from the wish that I'd kept up my guitar lessons)

    hey steve! thanks for listening.....

oh, the intent of this song, was never to sound, or play, like holdsworth..... cannot be done.
    LOL
by almost anyone, except a few misplaced aliens amongst the interwebs......

those harmonies were just too obvious to me, to NOT do..... it's an easy melody,
but getting the inflections of each phrase correct, was a b!tch.

    thank you rebel!
for what it's worth, i never had guitar lessons, other than a few very early attempts, that resulted in my learning 'the house of the rising sun'.
    LOL
so, with or without lessons, keep on keepin' on
