Did you know that you can mute a clip by selecting it and hitting the "K" on your keyboard?
That would mute the clip for you.  Also, if you want to mute multiple clips simultaneously you can either click/drag them then hit "K" or cntrl/click them and then hit "K".. Either way works.

Can you give steps to reproduce? Mute tool works fine here.

Seems like a fairly inflammatory response to a problem. The upgrades are literally upgrades.

We're not even quite sure what the problem is. Let's see if the OP can provide steps to reproduce.

I just select the mute tool, it shows up highlighted, but does nothing when I drag it in the clips. Simple as that. It doesn't show up as a tool

Are you dragging in the right part of the clip? You drag in the top half to un-mute, and in the lower half to mute.

^^^ Many tools in SONAR are position-sensitive.

As a new user I also had an extremely frustrating time trying to find the mute tool. The only one labeled "M" I could see was to mute/unmute all tracks. Not what I was looking for.

The solution is to hit F10 to toggle between the Erase Tool and the Mute tool. F8 & F9 also click thru some tools on the buttons just to the left of the erase/mute tool (whatever those do).
