Any way to disable Mod Wheel signals in SONAR while recording

Hi,
 
I'm using SONAR platinum 64 bit, running on Windows 8, version 21.8.00.
 
I've been having problems with getting the volume right, especially when using Garritan libraries, which uses the mod wheel as the volume control. Only recently I realize that my MIDI controller has an extremely sensitive mod wheel, such that during recording, whenever I play fast notes or hit the keys too hard, it will register intermittent nuisance mod wheel signals onto the track. This means I am not able to control the volume with all these mod wheel level signals peppered throughout the track.
 
I've submitted the same question to Garritan, but I think I may have more luck asking here as SONAR is more flexible than the ARIA player: Is it possible to temporarily disable the mod wheel signal while recording tracks? I am able to live with the chore of manually adjusting the volume after the actual recording (for now, until I can afford a decent MIDI controller). I've toggled with the track's Input Echo, but with no luck.

    My apologies. I guess I may have asked the question too soon. I used the search terms "disable" and "mod wheel" on google and couldn't find any results.
     
    I figured out that I can disable the mod wheel by unchecking "controller" under Edit-> Preference-> MIDI -> Playback and Recording. 
     
    Nonetheless if there is a more elegant way (perhaps making the mod wheel less sensitive?) please do advise. Many thanks in advance.

    Your controller probably allows you to disable the mod wheel and you can also filter the events you record in sonar to ignore cc1. The solution you found seems good though.

    I had an issue with a jittering mod wheel on a keyboard sending unwanted CC messages even when the keyboard was idle. Unchecking the option to record controllers as you've done solved the recording issue, but did not prevent the CC messages messing with the synth timbre while rehearsing/performing with live MIDI input.
     
    In order to address that, you can either use the Event Filter MFX to block CC1 messages being echoed to the synth (MFX are applied at the output) or add a flatline CC1 automation envelope to the track to hold CC1 at a fixed level, basically overriding the incoming messages.

    Can you assign the mod wheel on your MIDI controller to something other than CC1?  If so assign it to some CC that you are not using, then assign a fader or rotary controller to CC1 so you  can still be able set your Garrison program's volume.

    The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.
