Another Viewing Recommendation
I didn't think I'd like this one. It's a biography of David Geffen - not a musician, not a composer, just a fast-talking unscrupulous lying agent. My own history has not endeared me to agents. Like every musician, I've got stories. (Never mind that my business partner of 22 years was originally my agent in the 80's.)
Indeed, it's an argument in favor of jerk-dom as a strategy for success. Geffen is no Ahmet Artigen, that's for sure. But as David Crosby says in the film, "we knew we were in a pool of sharks and we needed our own shark".
