setting meters

hi everyone, this is something that's been bugging me for years, i started in'01 with guitar tracks and now i'm all the way up to sonar platinum and this has remained the same. that is, configuring all the meters. the process is the same time consuming, annoying thing,
when i start a project or make a template i have to go to meters/record/RMS or peak/set what db's i want/hold peaks/lock peaks
everytime i want to change something i need to start at the beginning because the window will not let me make more then one thing at a time. it would be so cool if after making a selection from the drop down box i could hold ctrl or shift or anything that will keep the window open.
does anyone know what i'm talking about and offer suggestions?
thanks
jp

This is easy.

In Console view, type 'H', select Midi, then hit the spacebar. You're now looking at just audio tracks, nothing else

Select the tracks you want to change either by clicking & dragging or ctrl + click for non contiguous tracks

Now click on Options > Meters.

Select what you want and you're done.

To make life easier for yourself, set them the way you want in your default template
