Drumdrops releases Rogers Big R Dub Kit BFD Pack

Drumdrops is releasing the Rogers Big R Dub Kit BFD Pack on Wednesday 14th October at 4pm BST
The first 15 packs will be FREE, the next 20 will be £ 15.00, the next 50 £ 20.00, the next 50 will be £ 25.00 and then it will return to the retail price of £ 35.00.

The Rogers Big R Dub Kit is the ultimate dub kit. Sampled by reggae drummer Horseman and recorded and mixed by Mike Pelanconi (aka Prince Fatty) this is a seriously good sounding kit.
Recorded at Prince Fatty’s studio The Ironworks in Brighton we used a 60s Rogers Big R Kit with a large 24” kick drum, a Ludwig Black Magic snare and a Ludwig Acrolite Snare. The kit has no ride cymbal (as they are not commonly used in dub kits) but comes with Timbales, Bongos and some Electronic Percussion using a Boss PC-2.
The recording took place in the Ironworks studio in Brighton. The drums were recorded through a vintage BBC class A console using a combination of classic ribbons, condensers and Dynamics. To get the tight dub sound the kit was recorded without room mics.
The BFD pack of the Rogers Big R Dub Kit is compatible with BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2.

I too seem to be having a bad experience with their site.
I just registered and received an activation email, clicked on it and tried to log in but
the site tells me it doesn't recognize my email, erm hello, you just sent me two emails to the same address you numpties.

I can't buy the expansion until I've registered, so I registered and when it sent me an email with a link to activate my account it said, "Sorry, we do not recognise your email address"
I've emailed them but it's 2.am here in the UK so may have to wait a while.

Ahh. That's frustrating. Good luck. For the price their packs are very good. Plus it comes with a bunch of reggae type grooves.

I've been hassling fxpansion to get some good reggae/dub reggae and ska kits with lots of grooves and presets but nothing yet so I'd like to hear these but will have to wait till tomorrow as I've no speakers at work. I want some good Denis Bovell type stuff as I'm a big Linton Kwesi Johnson fan.

I'm in now. Having heard the demos I like them but I'm asking myself if it's not a sound I can create quite easily with what I have (and that's a lot) The main thing I'm wanting is more Timbales with good resonance and rim shots, I love some of the more metallic high pitched ringy sounding ones you get in a lot of ska music.
So what's the verdict on how they play and articulations and presets?
I know £25 is cheap but I'm on a tight budget and have so many already I'm trying to restrain myself.

Plays fine. Has a crash but no other cymbals. There are two presets. Dub isn't really my thing but if you'd like to send me a midi file I can run it through this pack using the preset. I use edrums so I don't dig too deep into articulations usually, but I will report back what's in there.

FYI - timbales don't have rim shots. (nor do the toms)
There are also low and hi bongos, and an electronic percussion kit piece.
Snare has the standard articulations. (hit, rimshot, side stick plus half edge)

Sorry to hear some have had trouble. I haven't had any. Pretty nice sounding kit. I got up early - missed the free ones but got in on the first level which equates to about $20. Certainly no complaints at that price.
