No more monkey business

First own song lyric I have written since -93 or something, so be kind.
I got the idea of this song on Koh Tarutao, Thailand two years ago where the monkeys were very bold to get a snack.

The part that was needing this two years to getting done was the bridge. I've tried 4-5 ideas and this one was the least bad.
How is the balance/choice of effects? Are the different parts (bridge) working together?

Feel free to listen and comment!

Heck yeah, the bridge works! :)

Really great song, the effects aren't in your face, the only place I really notice them is in the vocal break at the end and it's not in your face, so yeah, they work really well. I really dig the bassline and how it plays around the melody and with the horns. This is a great tune and a great arrangement, thanks for this!

    Hi Lasse,

That was fun! You obviously have a penchant for arranging... Nice work

I also listened to March of Mars... Is that your original arrangement? I enjoyed that one too

Thanks synkrotron, glad you liked it! Yes, March of Mars is my original arrangement. I wrote it back in -99 but wanted to record it with proper sounding orchestra sounds now, so a lot of duplicating of synth and live violins...

Very interesting song. I'd only say the keys may just be a tad too high in the mix.

    Love the chorus.

Oh yeah, kind of reminds me of Barry Manilow's Copacabna. And I mean that in a good way. Very Retro.

Thanks Bapu for your forum Monkey entry!
You got a point, the keys probably cover everything else a little too much. I wanted a fat synth key sound and the level got raised instead of... well compressed maybe?

Really glad you digged the chorus!

I take that as a compliment! I added a tape emulator on the master to get a more warmer, analog feeling. Maybe that helped too to get the retro style, other than the trumpet section.

Thanks again Daryl! Appreciated! Yes, it's me playing the violin (& the bass, all the singing and the different synth parts). Violin is my main instrument so I try hard to get it in every song I can... ;)

I like everything about this. My only comments are that the keyboard is a bit to up front and I think this tune could use an intro - starts a bit abruptly for me.

Yes you're probably right about the keyboard.

Interesting, I love intros and this must be the first song ever I did without an intro. I thought it was unnecessary and kind of cool that the song start with the lyrics immediately. Thanks for your point, I maybe try to add an intro if I remix it later!

    Leizer,

This is a fun song with a bright & fun instramental track. I think the arrangement matches the spirit of the song rather well. I really like the bubbling synth part in the interstitium between the electric piano chords.

My main crit is that the vocal needs to be a little louder during the verses.

    Cool stuff,

nice song writing and big production!  My only crit is the lower vocal harmony following lead vocal all the way, not sure that's really needed, sounds fine, just don't think it's needed.  really fantastic work!
