Importing MIDI Drums to Sonar X3

Hi!

I have a project I originally made in another DAW and I'd like to import the drum MIDI into Sonar X3 to use EZ Drummer.  The MIDI track had kick drum and snare and I've exported it single track. The problem is when I pull the drum MIDI track into Sonar it creates about 10 channels and there is no sound on any of them.  I don't want to complicate the drum track into different channels.  I just want it on a single MIDI track like in the original MIDI.  I can do this for other MIDI tracks for other instruments.  How can I do it for the drum track?  BTW-the original drum track was created in EZ Drummer was well.

Thanks

What was the other DAW and is it the other DAW that's creating all those extra channels?
Is it all just in the one track in your other DAW? If it's just one single midi track/file containing all kit pieces, kick/snare/hats and so on then can you not either drag it to your desktop or export midi file from your other DAW?

Then just drag it from your desktop into a midi track in sonar (that's assigned to EZdrummer) then you have to map the notes according to EZdrummers keymap which I think is pretty close to the general midi map.

    Hi Steve!

The DAW that it was created on was Magix Samplitude Music Studio version 2008, but the drum program I used was EZ Drummer 1 by Toontrack and it the same drum program I'm currently using.  I exported the drum MIDI from the original project as a single track (soloing it, of course).  Then, in Sonar, I created an EZ Drummer synth track and dragged the drum MIDI into it.  I can't see why it creates all of those extra channel that have nothing in them.  I figured it would just re create the same two instrument single MIDI track I exported/imported.

Okay, if all the other tracks created in sonar are empty then I'm guessing the one that isn't empty contains all the drum parts?
If so, why not just delete the empty tracks leaving you with just the one midi track that you wanted in the first place?

If you can upload the midi file somewhere maybe I (or someone) could have a look at it?

I thought about that too, but the fact is there isn't ANY data on ANY of the tracks (in Sonar).  Not even the first one.

Seems to me if you can export the project in Magix to a midi file it would save that drum track and you can import it into Sonar! Better yet, render the midi drum track in Magix to a audio track and then import that into Sonar!

Seems like that's what I'm gonna have to do.  It's still a mystery.
    Thanks!
