ieee (firewire) to usb 3.0

I just bought a microsoft surface book. and the microsoft (proprietary) docking station does not have firewire port for my Focusrite saffire pro 40. Do the usb docking stations with firewire ports work with the saffire pro and/or a simple usb to firewire adapter work? Please help with opinions

Not really. You might be able to get adapters for it but they won't work very well with interfaces as far as I can see.

USB-C next year will resolve this which will have thunderbolt 3 support (or capability). I'm holding out for that myself.

Looks like you might be in the market for a Scarlett unless somebody can come up with a revelation here.

The only real solution is to get a USB2 or USB3 audio interface.
As Dok mentioned, adapter type solutions (if you can find one) rarely work well.
