I admit I have trouble listening to the heavy repetition. But I got as far as a minute in, where the texture changed. At that point, all I could think about was "I hope the beginning does not come back!" This is intended as more or less constructive feedback .. I think Michael Nyman might have begun the same way, but then would keep branching away, keep introducing something that was new and interesting.

This would probably work as you intended, under slide show, the early repetition is a little trying but for what you described it works. The mix sounds OK here though perhaps all the parts are a little to stereo. Thanks for sharing.

A lot of potential here for something really good. It's a great start, just needs more depth and variation. Regards, Dan

I like the intro a lot. Good mix of sounds, although I think the drums are breaking the dreamy, cinemathic feeling. Maybe some african style drums had fitted in better? Perfect music for the purpose you told about, good work!

It's very well suited to a slide show. Put this underneath someone's wedding pictures, and everyone in the room will be bawling! nice mix, nice job! If you intend to repurpose it for something else, then you might want to get more diverse and bring the drums up a tad. But as a texture, it's very well done and pretty cool! cheers, -Tom

Very nice build up and instrumentation. I could hear elements of Sigur Ros in there which is no bad thing in my book

I like that. Strings move nicely under the main theme. I didn't find it too repetitive given the intended use.

Thanks for the range of responses -- interesting how it strikes people in different ways. Good learning experience for me and I'll remember your feedback on the next instrumental i develop. Thanks again!

Sounds pretty good from here. I didn't find the intro all that repetitive and I think it worked OK. To echo a previous comment though I'd probably swap the drums for... something else. Maybe some light percussion in the quieter sections, then expanding to that "big group of percussionists" type thing in the more upbeat sections, etc.. IMO that might better fit the overall feel of the piece which is sorta dreamy and almost bordering on a "world" sound in spots.
