Ghost song

Almost had this finished for Halloween.  Only one day late!  Here is a song about a haunted house.  I really had a blast playing and singing this one.  Let me know if anything needs help.  Otherwise, enjoy!

Hello Sven 450,  I don't know a whole lot about music or recording of music so I will just have to share what I liked about your song.

I like the guitar riff.  I like the lyrics too.  . The backing vocals are nice too. I like the drums and the little changes that you did.

If I were to mix this I think I might turn up the vocals, and the backing vocals, and turn down the bass.

I think Cakewalk should start a radio channel and rotate play all the submissions to the song forum.  I would listen to it and it would be a great way to hear new music and learn more about the people who contribute music.

I really liked your song "Welcome to the Mystery"  that is nice nice nice.  I'm net know to the song forum so I don't know if you submitted that one or not.

    Keep up the great work.

    Jesse

Hmmmm. This is pretty good. Really good singing!!!! But, Vocals up. I'd like to hear the lyrics, and most of the time, I'm guessing. There's a pretty ****in' song in here, and the mix seems pretty good for everything. Just need to boost the vocals and maybe get the vocal reverb down from Big Canyon to Medium Canyon!

    Or, post the lyrics?

    cool songwriting, for sure.

    cheers,
    -Tom

Very nice rocking song you have there Scott! Mix is very retro-sounding, which is cool if that was your intention. Only thing missing is a dirty B3...

Really butt-kicking song, and wow, great vocals with a very effective, rocking arrangement. Maybe it's the style and is fully intended but to my ear the residual distortion kind of muddies things up, especially at the parts where the song slows down, but hey, what do I know? Great work!

    Thanks all for listening.
Tom:  I agree there is just a total slathering of reverb, but the chorus is supposed to be ghosts, so I figured lets go ghosty.
I'll stick the lyrics below.  Verses are people breaking in to haunted house, choruses and outro are the ghosts.
Lots of words!  It was very tough to sing in time....

Dan:  I was going for retro for sure, so I'm glad that came across.  Fuzzy guitars and vintage drums.  I almost put a farfisa on it, but I could not get it to sound right (mainly because I'm a horrible keyboard player).

Keeper of the Names (a haunting song)

When we turned up went right to the door
Stepped inside and we stirred up the dusty floor
Spun in circles held close to the wall
    Like wide-eyed dull porcelain dolls

Joined hands now then up to the stairs
Heard the sounds of our stupid and childish dares
Now the groans coming down from above
    Like shadows of blackened doves

Heard the sounds and we broke off our ranks
Spun around like th muzzles of sniffing tanks
Turned again saw the shadows come down
Laying low like a glowering cloud

             ***********************

We have the key to all your hidden pain
We are the Keepers of the Names
We'll  hold your souls inside like secret flames
Why are you always all the same?
Break our doors like its a childish game

Feel the darkness close in hard and tight
Our mistakes are exposed in the strangling night
    Feathered tendrils of charcoal regret
Reach out to expose us to...

All their faces surround us and grin
Thousand smiles of terror and blackened sin
Someone screams out "What have we done?"
Then all of us screaming as one

         ************************
We have the key to all your secret pain
We are the Keepers of the Names
We hold your fear inside like secret flames

We are ones who ride the dark
On empty seas within our shattered bark
We roam alone inside these halls
And listen close as terror feeds your calls

    What have we done?
Please get us out of here!
We've got to get out of here!

Then the door slams the windows black
They laugh aloud "No, your never going back"
Closed her eyes let the shadow spill
across her then all hearts were stilled

          *************************

Oooh will you stay with me?
         Of course
         I know you will
         Oooh will stay in here?
         With us?
Oh yes, we know you will.

         Oooh will stay in here?
         In darkness?
         Of course you will.

         Oooh will come to me?
         In shadow?
         I know you will.

Late to the party...   cool song!   The arrangement and mix work well IMO for that 70's retro-ish rock sound.   Loved the "ghost" vocals during the choruses.    Subtle, but effective.

Well done! I like oddball stuff. Shades of Iron Butterfly mixed with The Doors.

I Like the retro sound of the song. A dark mood as intended.
I can't comment to much about the mix/soundquality beacuse I'm not at home and have to listen on a cheap pair of headphones.
