audio stops when additional windoww opened

re: Jamaica update & Windows 7 & Sonar Platinum

I don't recall having this issue before the Jamaica update:

When Sonar is running, and I am playing a VST, and I open another window (e.g. file explorer, calculator, external audio mixer), the audio stops. I know this was not previously the case, because I often opened the external Lynx audio mixer to view levels. Now, the meters are inactive, since there is no audio.

To recover, I must close the window that caused the issue, and then perform some operation in Sonar for the audio to resume. The operation I perform may be as minor as selecting the same or another simple synthesizer track to play. This simple operation will cause the tail of the audio, which was previously cut off by opening the additional window, to finally play.

Is this a configuration issue? Is there some setting that lets Sonar play only when it is in focus? (although this would not explain the minor operation required for recovery ... or would it?)

thanks

I found this too last night. I was doing a basic arrangement using TTS-1 and had exactly the same trouble. When I replaced the synth with other vsts the same problem occurred again.

In the audio settings, I had "share ASIO driver" checked somehow. When I unchecked it, the problems seems to have been fixed.

Thanks mcdonalk. I will double check this when I am back at the grindstone.
