Sonar X3 plugin pathing issue

Hi guys, really enjoying Sonar, very clean and efficient.

Only one problem, I recently reinstalled my windows and Sonar, everything is working fine except some of the VST plugins are stuck trying to access from windows.old which no longer exists.
The path you see in the image is not in my scan paths. I don't know how Sonar still knows of the windows.old and I don't know why it's stuck like this, any help would be appreciated.

Hi. You should be able to remove your windows.old plugin folder in Preferences (P), File, Vst Settings. Just mark it, and remove.
    Best of luck.

On the keyboard press P for Preferences then VST there are several options there where you can delete unwanted scan paths and add new ones.

It could be Steam specific. Cakewalk hides some VST paths in the registry (think ProChannal) but if the path no longer exists and a scan has been run, the reference to the plug-in should be gone. Maybe a VST Reset, the button is on the same Preference page zargg71 and mudgel mention, would clean it up. The definitive source for all things related to SONAR from Steam is the in the Steam Community SONAR forum http://steamcommunity.com/app/293140/discussions/

Hi guys thanks for the replies, but as I said the path it's trying to find is not in my scan paths. Nothing to do with windows.old is there.

I think I may have found out what the problem is. Sonar isn't scanning. I've tried manual, automatic etc, but it refuses to scan. The buttons for "Scan" and "Reset" are both greyed out for some reason. Even when I switch to manual scan they are still grey.

Probably SONAR cannot find the VSTscan.exe

SONAR from Steam has a different file layout than SONAR from Cakewalk. Based on the path in your initial post, I would recommend you work this issue on the Steam site.

Right after a lot of friggin around and frustration I've finally fixed it. The actual windows registries had gotten all mixed up. So just a warning folks that if you are reinstalling your Windows, Sonar can get really confused by this and does strange things.
