Problems scanning VST plugins
I installed a couple of Soundtoys plugins, but they didn't show up. When I opened Sonar, it says I have the same amount of plugins I had before I installed the Soundtoys plugins. So I went to Edit, Preferences, etc, and did a re-scan of VST plugins. But immediately it stopped at "Scanning C1 comp mono (0)" and would not proceed. I've tried to scan it a couple more times, but it keeps stopping there. Suggestions? Thanks! Greg

Hi Doktor - I did that - except for number 3. I don't understand that part. The other issue is that it won't scan. When I try to rescan plugins, it stops and doesn't scan everything. Thanks, Greg

I believe your current issue is with Waves. There where changes to the scanner specific to Waves plug-ins, here is one of the threads about it http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3304786 I don't not use Waves plug-ins so have to rely on threads like this for suggested solutions.

Definitely an issue with Waves. Same thing happened to me the other day after purchasing a new Waves plug. VST scan hung on Waves Bass Rider. Had to uninstall all Waves then reinstall with the new Waves whatever. Then the scan went through fine.

OK, that's what I don't understand. Not really sure how to add a direct line to my Soundtoys subfolder. Thanks, Greg

When in Preferences (P), under File, Vst Settings, choose add, and locate your Soundtoys folder. All the best.

Scook: When I updated Command Center, I saw the Jamaica Plain. But (and this may sound stupid) I have no idea how to download it. I found nothing that allows me to install it. So I'm in the dark about that. In the thread you shared, the guy had issues after installing Jamaica Plain. I have not yet installed that. So I don't know if Waves is the issue or not. Thanks, Greg

It may a good idea when not running the current release to mention which release of SONAR is in use by build and name, recent versions show both in the About screen.

FWIW, the suggestion at the Soundtoys site to add/remove a specific path to their plug-ins seems odd and may be ill advised if the path is already part of an existing VST path defined in SONAR. SONAR recursively searches all paths defined in preferences and redundant paths have been known to cause problems.

You do know that all Cakewalk DAWs share the same VST scanner. Unless you completely removed Platinum from the machine and reinstalled X3, you are using some version of shared utilities installed by Platinum (assuming your .sig is correct). And while the problem may have been initiated by issues with Soundtoys, if this greg54 But immediately it stopped at "Scanning C1 comp mono (0)" and would not proceed. I've tried to scan it a couple more times, but it keeps stopping there.
is going on, it would appear there is a problem scanning Waves too.

Yes, I know they all share the same scanner. Right now I am using Sonar X3, so I'm scanning from there. I have been using Waves for quite a while with no issues. As far as I know, it all started when I updated Command Center. Soundtoys suggestion was after I was having my issues trying to locate their plugins that I had installed. When I added a path to Soundtoys and tried to rescan it, it would not allow me to. It stopped and would not continue to scan. So I don't know what to do. Thanks! Greg

Greg, if you have any Waves plugs, that IS the issue with the scan not completing. The scan always worked for me until a recent Sonar update. (can't remember if it was JP, I or H) My scan would stop in X3 as well as Plat. (the same scanner) It ALWAYS hung on a Waves plug until I uninstalled and reinstalled Waves with their "new" installer interface. Oh yeah, I also removed all WaveShell dlls I could find before reinstalling. There were quite a few spread around my drive. HTH

Glad it worked. You can reinstall the waves with the new "Waves Central" and everything should work next time.

Hey Guys, Had similar problem when I purchased a new waves plugin last week. They have a brand new download interface. After to trying to get the new pi to load I gave up. Waves is easy to install so I uninstalled everything and re-installed only the vst3's, soundgrid & rewire, and wham all works better than before. Seems like installing the new version of soundgrid fixed things. I found whenever waves messes up best to uninstall and reinstall just tell it to keep custom setting. On the other hand anybody have any idea why it won't recognize IK Multimedia 32bit plugin that it did a few months ago?? WiLLi & MMX3PT Sonar Platinum - Owner

After I re-installed Waves (and it works fine now), I noticed I'm still missing some plugins when it scans. I'll have to check my IK Multimedia plugins. Greg
