ASIO for All or ASIO 1.2

Hello,
I have an older Echo Audio interface and they haven't updated their drivers in over 4 years!!!
I was wondering if it's better to download/use ASIO for all or stick with the old drivers - ASIO 1.2.

do the old native drivers work with you current operating system?  if so, then use them.  never use ASIO4ALL if your native drivers work.  ASIO4ALL is not really ASIO drivers.  they're a WDM wrapper to make windows THINK the drivers are ASIO.

The old drivers work with Sonar 8 but I want to upgrade or buy a new DAW and they can't see my device in ASIO.
I have just sent Echo a request that they update their ****ing drivers...
Anyway is 1.3 that much better than 1.2?

Completely uninstall ASIO4ALL before you even attempt to get your drivers working.
Update your drivers to latest, and update your firmware to the latest.
Sometimes you need to delete AUD.INI (google for details) to get Sonar working.
Make sure you configure the audio interface in preferences.
Backing up and creating a restore point is always a good thing to do.

    Cheers..

I would do what the dok recommends by uninstalling ASIO for all first and then verify if the Echo drivers don't work on win10, then if they still dont, you MIGHT get better results from using WDM mode instead.  ASIO4ALL is a WDM wrapper, so the soundcards' native WDM drivers are still being used by ASIO4ALL.

in some cases, ASIO4ALL will allow for lower latencies because of the way they wrote the wrapper, but IMO, if a soundcard has good solid drivers, I'd use them first if they work.

oh and yeah we did start near the same time, but I've got a few more posts than you do! LOL

yeah, and after uninstalling asio4all and installing the manufacturer drivers, be sure to also test with multiple asio clients, to exclude those from the possible suspect list
    good luck!

If your interface does not work (meaning deliver low latency) in your current OS you are screwed!
Hate to put it bluntly, but there you go.
Why do you think I have an RME UFX and the FW-1884?
I have an old Gina (somewhere), she was great at the time, but alas...
    Babyface Pro, Motu Ultralite AVB?
Not exactly "budget" but, "you gets what you pays for".
    There are lots of options.
Want low latency, you gotta "put more on the counter than your elbow"; that's what my dear ol' mama used to say.
My BabyFace (damn, they announced the "Pro" just after I bought it,%$#) is just as "low latency" as my UFX.
    Good luck!
