Goodbye old friend
Leaving to sell my most cherished possession. I'm so sad. Have no choice. Goodbye, my 2002 Epiphone Dot Deluxe 335. You've been awesome.

This has to be heartbreaking. Can't imagine. I dare not ask why but I figure you must have one heck of a reason. So sorry for you!

That sucks. You really get attached. I have an Epiphone Spotlight (the legendary "PRS lawsuit" model of which there were only a few made) which I've had since 1988 and even though I don't play it these days (it's back in the UK at my dad's house - keep meaning to ship it over) I think if I heard that anything had happened to it I would genuinely cry. Any chance you can visit her now and then?

LOL I'm sure I'll be visiting, Sharke. The guy who bought it ended up being a great guy who also loves guitars. I'm going to be doing some work for him - setups, wiring, etc. and we'll probably end up staying in contact.

Well I guess at least you got something Been there done that, twice actually . . . never again I don't think I would make it back next time, it's just so hard picking yourself back up and starting again, takes so long to build back up to where you were, just a big waste of time, and at my age there isn't a lot of useful time left. But I guess lady luck smiled upon me, I am in a much better position now than I ever was, apart from the running out of time thing, don't have to answer to anyone apart from God, the Government and the Law in that order, fortunate that if I want something, or want to do something I can just do it. I think if I were to ever go down that path again it would have to be a tattooed rock chick, preferably with dread locks, vegetarian, doesn't say much, but when she did it actually mattered, not just idle chitchat, didn't believe in limitations or that anything was impossible, a loner, didn't particularly like people or the human race in general, didn't care what other people thought, loved animals, was an idealist, didn't believe in arguments, just say what you want to say and leave it at that and move on as if nothing happened, a Linda Perry clone would be nice, without the gay part (not that there is anything wrong with that)

Practice wives suck ... the very life out of you. It took me 3 years to finalize with mine after being married 2 years. She hunted me down and harassed me via phone for another 16.

Thanks for your encouragement and experience guys! Starting again is horrendous! Especially since I started from scratch at 17 after having to leave high school and find a way to learn to go from nothing to something with no education or help. I don't want to do it again. So I fire up Sonar and pretend everything's great! Lol. My sweet escape!

Music I think is pretty much the only thing that wont leave you, you can ignore it, neglect it, let other things take precedence of it, for me that was only ever a partner/female, but it's always there, never goes away, because for most of us it is part of us, part of who we are, regardless of how good or bad we are at it, it's something that is just 'in us'. That's what I tell a lot of people who inquire after why I spend so much time with it and forsake all else for it (family aside, most of the time) it's the only thing that is always there, for as long as I can remember, and when I am doing it, it's when I feel the best, happiest, it's part of who I am, without it I am not me, even if you try to push it away, it always comes back. Don't pretend . . . believe

I've started from scratch a few times, sometimes voluntarily, sometimes not. But my black strat remained with me. At this point it's my oldest possession - 19 years. All the rest has been sold, left behind, given away or lost. I don't play it anymore, because it's in dire need of some TLC, and every time I start making plans to have it fixed, I find myself thinking that I could buy a new Fender strat for less than what I'd need to put on this one. But I can't imagine letting it go. It's on a stand right next to my desk, and it simply belongs in my creative environment.
