Yes, install them in the existing VST path or add the path they are installed in to the VST path. Either way VST2 and VST3 plug-ins are supported in MC7. The VST path is set in Preferences > File > VST Settings. After adding VST plug-ins they must be scanned by MC7 to add them to the plug-in lists. Depending on the VST Settings page this will happen automatically in the background, when starting MC7 or by manually running the scanner from the VST Setting page.

Most of the VST's I have had self install capabilities. Once they were installed, I simply went to the PLUG IN MANAGER and used it to locate the plug in and add it to the list. Then you simply run a VST list scan and it will permanently add that to the available VST's for MC.

I have the "scan on startup" turned off so MC and Sonar will load faster. There's no need to scan every time it starts. You then only need to scan when you add something new to the list.

    Hi everyone,
And thanks again Scook , for your assistance with EZD2. Ok , on the subject of '3rd party VSTs ; I've just installed MC 7, and besides not having any of the studio instruments bundles or soundcenter softsynth included , many of the vsts I installed over time with MC6 do not show up either when I search for them in 'preferences' , one or two I did manage to scan in and seem to work fine, has anyone else had this problem?

Did you expand the MC7 item in the Command Center and run the SI Suite installer?

If you want all the old 32bit plug-ins to show up in MC7 add the path to your VST scan path settings. If possible locate and install 64bit versions of the old plug-ins instead. There is no 64bit version of CSC so the path to it will need to be added to the VST scan path in preferences. No need to install the MC7 version, the plug-in did not change.

If you have any 3rd party plug-ins which are 32bit only, there is a chance they will not run in 64bit MC7 using either BitBridge or jBridge (a third party alternative to BitBridge). If this is the case you have three options, find a replacement plug-in, use your previous Cakewalk DAW or install the 32bit version of MC7. Running the Command Center with "verbose install" enabled will cause the MC7 installer to provide an switch to install 32bit MC7. The "verbose install" option is on the settings page, click the gear in the upper right on the Command Center UI to access the page.

The Studio Instruments Suite is not locked to MC7 and should work in any VST2 host. I looked up Studio One 3 Professional. It appears to support VST2 plug-ins. jBridge would not be necessary for the Studio Instruments Suite. The 32bit and 64bit versions are available in the installer.

    Hi again Scook.
I think I did, maybe I didn't,..to be honest I can live without them, though, the electric piano looked good. It's been a frustrating few days, basically I started recording with MC7, and just got 'Audio dropout ' every few seconds, I wasn't online , turned off all real-time scanning ,and keep the task manager up to check everything . In the end I uninstalled it, and reinstalled MC6..no dropout and EZD works fine. It will stay on my account and I may reinstall it again.

reinstalling shouldn't have anything to do with dropout. dropout is 90% caused by your soundcard drivers and the driver mode and buffers you have set in sonar for your soundcard.

also, this is a separate issue from the original post.  can you start another thread and we can help you there with your dropout issue.  when you do, please list what soundcard you're using and what driver mode you have set in MC.
