FABFILTER PRO MB WITH SIDE CHAIN TO WORK IN SONAR X3?
looking at buying this multi band as i love what the other programs do in sonar. for the life of me i can't get a multi band compressor side chain to work in sonar. sonitus says it has side chain on it's multi which would be great, but the sends on the buses can not find this side-chain.(if find the single compressor just fine) anyone getting a multi band compressor side chain to work in x3? also wondering if anyone had got any of the waves multi bands to side chain with sonar x3? win 7 64 bit-sp1, i7 16 gig. sonar x3 pro,

Yes the FabFilter Pro-MB sidechain works in X3. The Sonitus MultiBand does not have a sidechain. In the Sonitus Suite only the Compressor and Gate have a sidechain see https://www.cakewalk.com/...mp;help=Mixing.30.html Any Waves VST3 plug-in that has a sidechain feature should work in X3.

cool, thank you for the info. didn't want to spent 200 bucks and not have that option. i already use lp-64 a lot, but would like to side chain it. another question if i may... what is your favorite multi band compressor's and why?

I am a longtime fan of FabFilter stuff, but in all honesty Meldaproduction's MDynamicEQ is better than Pro-MB and less than 40 bucks on sale. And yes, it's side-chainable.

wow, pretty cool stuff. had to do some reading one it. a frequency-selective compressor with the word eq in the tittle...lol might pick up one of these too and see which one i like better. i am used to having moving filters on the waves like multi band provides, but this is very interesting to me. thank you bitflipper. also bitflipper is your photo not at least 10 years old in this forum? lol (i am one to talk, never even take the time to post more than this generic sonar-yin-&-yang sign...

MDynamicEQ's latency is nowhere near Ozone's (which necessarily requires large buffering to do what it does), but is slightly higher than a straight equalizer. It's also a little bit more CPU-intensive than FabFilter Pro-Q2, which is extraordinarily light on CPU. As the name implies, it is a dynamic equalizer, not a multi-band compressor. The distinction is actually pretty minor: a dynamic EQ can be more transparent than a multi-band compressor. Pro-MB in its default mode is actually a dynamic equalizer, despite the "MB" in its name and the way it's described by FabFilter. Pro-MB can be either a dynamic EQ or a multi-band compressor. MDynamicEQ is just an EQ, all the time. MDynamicEQ is neither a memory nor a CPU hog. It's reasonably efficient in both metrics considering what it does. It'll only start getting heavy when you use the Spectragram, which is one of its key features. But you only use that when you're initially setting up the EQ, and it's GPU-accelerated, which can greatly reduce the CPU overhead.
