How do you set the path for Rapture Session expansion packs?

Specifically these files:
 - Session-Atmospheric-007
 - Session-Guitars-007
 - Session-Keys-007
 - Session-Orchestral-007
 - Session-Synths-008

The installers insist on installing them to C:\...  This is my system SSD drive -- I never install content there.  Cheers...

You can reassign those paths during the install (button to the right of the default path shown). My Cakewalk Content was already on my F drive so I simply changed the C to F on the lower path.

Edit: I also ran those installers manually.

    Wow, that was quick...thanks!

But I think you answered where to install the Rapture Session "content".  I too redirected those files to a different drive (as you mentioned).

What I'm trying to do is to change the "expansion pack" paths.  I should mention that I'm doing this by manually running the installers. Unfortunately these installers do not give you the option of choosing the install directory.

Hmmm, my SSD is old and hates unpacking and then installing, so I used 7zip to unpack the downloaded exe files. Interestingly there are TWO exe files within it (same name) so I told 7zip to autoname the second it found. When I ran those installers, I used the original-named one, and the install path was assignable.

Because that worked, I didn't even launch the other exe to check it, so may be another difference.

Edit: I just sat down to check that again, the content paths were assigned with the installation of Rapture Session only). Do that one first. The content files simply adhered to the path chosen from installing Rapture Session.

Brilliant.  It didn't even occur to me to try that.  And it worked like a charm -- thanks!

BTW, I noticed that you live in Maryland.  So do I.  We may be neighbors...

LOL, figures, I edited my above post when you replied. The content packs actually install directly to the path chosen during the install of Rapture Session.

I am up in the Northeast corner or Maryland, but folks had little creativity naming towns, so when I say I am closest to "North East, MD" I always get "Where in Northeast MD?" so I just tell them the Baltimore area.

That worked.  But Rapture Session still is not able to find those files -- I get a transient red error message when I try to load those samples.

I searched for the path in the registry but didn't find it.  I guess it must be stored internal to Rapture or Sonar.

That's pretty funny. It reminds me of the first time I heard of Hollywood, MD and California, MD.  Imagine living in one of those places and trying to explain it to someone.

Well, since I live north of DC, I guess we're distant neighbors. Cheers...

I think I figured out why only some samples are loading and not others.  The size of my "E:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Sample Data\Rapture Pro\..." folder as installed by "Rapture_Session_Setup_2.0.3.96" is only ~360MB.  But the combined size of all the expansion packs ("Session-Atmospheric-007", "Session-Guitars-007", "Session-Keys-007", "Session-Orchestral-007", and "Session-Synths-008") is ~3.7GB. So, evidently most of the samples were not installed. Bummer...

I know this thread is a little dated but I did not see the answer and I was just trying to accomplish this very same thing.  There is a registry hack that will accomplish this:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\ContentDir.  The default was C:\Cakewalk Content.  I set mine to D:\Cakewalk Content and it worked.  Hope this helps.

How do you set the path for Rapture Session expansion packs?

I have this problem.  Since this thread has not been marked as "Solved" yet, I'll just pile on here ...

    Specifically these Rapture Session expansions:
     - Session-Atmospheric
     - Session-Guitars
     - Session-Keys
     - Session-Orchestral
     - Session-Synths

These installers insist on installing to C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Sample Data\Rapture Pro\Multisamples...  This is my system SSD drive -- I never install content there.

This is a full 3.0GB of extra multisample content on my system drive.

I have set Cakewalk Command Center to use the path D:\Cakewalk Content...  This normally works.

I told the Rapture Session installer to use D:\Cakewalk Content.  So far, so good.

But then the expansion installers don't ask, or respect the established content path, they just default to C:\... for some odd reason.

I thought at first I had overlooked something, so I renamed C:\Cakewalk Content\... and uninstalled Rapture Session and all of it's content.

It did the same thing again when I re-installed it, this time while watching carefully.

And I also looked for the registry entry listed in the previous post. I don't have that one.  I performed a Windows clean install in July and only installed X3 and Platinum after, so that registry entry may be from an older version installer.

Thanks, but under the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software", the value for "ContentDir" is already "D:\Cakewalk Content".

I already have my paths set up correctly, it is the installer that is misbehaving.

Thanks again. Your comment nudged me to keep searching.

I found the correct answer in a slightly different place on my PC.  But with the same effect that it corrected the problem.  Maybe the difference is due to different Windows or Sonar versions?

The method that I used to track it down should work for any version:

    >Start with Windows Explorer and navigate to the offending folder, ex: "C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Sample Data".
    >Right-click> copy the folder address as text from the address bar.
    >Open Regedit and search (Edit> Find...) for the string containing the copied folder address "C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Sample Data"
    >In my case it was a value within HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\
    >There was a value name "SampleDataDir" in the right-hand pane with the value data of "C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Sample Data".
    >Changed it to "D:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Sample Data" and the problem is fixed!
