Sonar not saving Amplitube plugin change when exiting

A strange problem that might help in diagnosing a crash upon exit.
as the title states, changes to Amplitube 3 or 4 do not stick when exiting Sonar.
This is a problem for me in X3 and Professional. I am hoping some one can recreate it. Here are the steps:
1. Open a new project with one audio track.
2. Insert Amplitube on the track. 
3. Save the file.
4 Reopen the project and change a preset.
5. Do NOT save but exit using the "x" button in the top right corner.
i expect Sonar to ask me if I want to save the project. It does not and exits without saving changes.
i am hoping someone can confirm this behavior.
i don't believe it matters if VST2 or 3 versions of Amplitube is used.

    Yes, it's reproducible here (AT3+Kingston).
