Sonar and Playlists with video
I run sound for a tribute band. They use 16 backing tracks, run via USB into an X32 mixer, and video that runs to a projector. I have added the videos to the tracks in Sonar X2, and want to use Sonar's "Playlist" to set up the songs to play in the correct order, with playback being triggered by the drummer using an external midi drum pad.
I have the MIDI controller working, the video playing via HDMI out of my laptop, set to run on the extended monitor. However, the video, when firing off from a playlist, is a hot mess. In order to do the playlist, the next song pre-loads in the background so it's ready to go. However, that means the video window opens on top of the video playing, but just for a second. It's still a problem. Also, the video will not open at full screen. Can this be fixed?
So the problem is the video in the second window. I know that Sonar is only intended to run video for the sake of adding audio to a video (movie scoring, video production, etc.), but could you add some functionality for live production purposes? Video for live audio is HUGE right now, and if there was a way to make this work using Sonar, that would be a huge win for making it practical for more artists.
I've asked about this before and been laughed at by the studio guys, but live audio is crucial, and currently Pro Tools and Ableton are the only games in town for that. If Sonar had a Playback only that did multi-track audio (imagine the Daum Pot Player with 16-32 track audio/MIDI playback capability), that would be entirely kick ass. Any help on this?
