My Waves Central anomaly
They put both 64 and 32 bit shells in the same location. WTF?

Don't know if this derails the thread, but tried to install and activate the free reverb from Waves. Went through the crap installig the central thing and everything else they demanded. Downloaded and installed the free reverb. Went thru all the hoops. Nothing... Dead Meat... Realize that some if not many had a good experience. Too many constipated blocks from here to make it even worth the effort to fix the mess. Guess the question I'm asking is if the reverb is any good. Have to respect Waves for offering a freebie, but if you can't install it through a Fort Knox of obstacles, it is useless. Thanks for input and suggestions, John

I signed up for it. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to go through the Waves hassle again. I got several emails from them advertising BF specials, but nothing on True Verb. I guess they saved me the hassle.

You will eventually get an email telling you to D/L the freebie. Believe it or not the same thing happened to me last year with the 1 knob give away. This year I got the email re the reverb and a note that said I should also get last years deal that I never collected. This year I got both. One thing I've found is that the new waves installer automatically sets your location for licenses to the cloud for new plugs. My new plug didn't show up after install and VST scan so I checked my licenses and found that all my licenses were local except the new one. I transferred the license to local and it's all good. I really like the new system because you no longer have to go through that huge list and check off the plugs you're entitled to. No more external D/L's to deal with. Purchase, D/L, install and register the license on one page.

I had a nightmare with this today - all cos you told me to buy Reel ADT. I was cussing you for an hour. The hour I lost fixing this would have been better spent recording a second 'doubled' track. Tosspot.

Weird. Mine created these folders for 64 bit and 32 bit: C:\Program Files\VSTPlugIns C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugIns But it seems I have no control over this.

Thanks John, Will give this another shot. Got a confirmation that it was installed but nothing is picking it up, maybe the directory. Totally unrelated, but got a new job starting Monday after getting fired from the last one a couple months ago. Hope everyone's Thanksgiving and Black Friday were good, John

I'm not a fan of how Waves do their installs. It's a true rocket science. They are still similar to a dongle activation. You can only use them on a system at one time. Their freebies which are often a duplicate come on handy for another machine.

maybe it was just me but having bought the SIlver bundle yesterday, it was a piece of cake to install via Waves Central. My previous plugs also went over fine. Maybe cos i don't use custom VST folders?

mgh, Glad it worked for you. Still fried here. The thing installed fourth time, took out my internet connection, disabled the windows something manager. Got those up and running without much problem. WC installed everything but the sink. Startup first time with a tirade of errors over wave this and that not found. Let it install to the default folder and properly aimed the recorder at the folder. It will probably take a week to get rid of the Wave Central garbage and all the extraneous shell files and the like. Somebody tell me that if I have Valhalla, Lexicon, good convolutions, I'm not missing anything from the waves freebie. John

Same here. But I can't say I had any problems. My suggestion is to uninstall, delete any leftover folders from the above locations, then reinstall. Reboot, make sure the above paths are added in Sonar prefs, and finally, reset/rescan VSTs.

Downloaded the Truverb freebie. (Like I need ANOTHER reverb!!! Greed took over!! Ha ha!) It required updating my Waves Central app. Yes, that put both 32 bit and 64 bit files in the same folder. (Do I need to separate them out manually or, will that screw something else up?) So, that broke all my Waves plugs that were fine before. After re downloading them all and messing (over & over) with the licenses/activation stuff.... I finally have all my Waves stuff working again EXCEPT the Renaissance Compressor! All the rest of the Renaissance Bundle works fine! I'm kinda stumped. I've got an email into Waves support but, no reply as of yet.

Sound like these are upgrade scenarios. I installed it for the first time and no problems but I'd like to know how to change the plugin file path.
One thing I read over and over again is deleting the waves cache fixes stuff...

Doc, can you point me to any posts/threads that discuss deleting waves cache? I'm wondering if that might help my situation. Thanks!
