Never occurred to me you could google the term! Surprise, there's a wikipedia page on it. Surprise #2: "bit twiddling" and "bit bashing" are synonyms for bit flipping. I like the second one. How does "Bitbasher" sound for my new handle?

Hello Mr. Bit, if you are really thinking of a moniker change I would definitely stay away from bit twiddler; bit basher might work, but I can imagine a few others like

the bitinator,
or the mondo superstyle bitbiter,

or this would be the best...bit bat baba nat smat cat trat flap it tat flip a dat bit bat.

I think the only problem I can see if you change your name is you might lose your post count, but do what you got to do.

Seriously, thanks for all you do to enlighten folks on this forum.  As far as I can see you are in the top ten of knowledgeable and helpful types.

How does "Bitbasher" sound for my new handle?

That might scare some folks, but I have a feel it would also attract the EDM crowd in droves... Would be awesome name for a DJ.

I always thought Xor might be a cool handle for Bit.

That does sound like one of the X-Men, or one of Superman's enemies.

But it's a lot easier explaining what bit-flipping is than exclusive-oring. If that's even a legitimate verb.

Anyhow, I've been thinking about a logo for my album based on the schematic symbol for an inverter, with a binary stream going in and musical notes coming out. Or the other way around.

Haha, excellent Bit... For our first album back in 1982, we put together the label "imaginary records" with the logo being the "square root of a minus record" in graphical format of course. There have been a number of imaginary record labels formed since that time, none of them ever seemed to figure out a cool logo like we had, hahah. Of course "cool logo" is a relative term!! One of the guys involved in helping us put together that first album wound up with the label and still uses it, although it's very small and not really much more than a boutique for a couple of titles.

So, I think your idea for a logo is great! Thanks for the download, keep up the good work and good luck with the project!

I think "Cool Logo" would be a good name for a record label.
