Why someone should buy Sonar Platinum. IMO

You are not a pro and wants to spend more time getting  Sonar Platinum to work again for the last week of every month.
You don’t need a reliable DAW.
You only work in the box and don’t need to record audio.
You like to receive useless presets called FX chains every month that are really the SonitusFX tools you got free in the 1st place.
You want to upgrade your computer two times a  year to the new System requirements.

I taught myself how to make corn biscuits last year to go with the turkey stew I made from my last X-Mas turkey carcass/scraps. Totes yum.

Which reminds me I need to go to the cheap grocery store to pick up some 80 cent per pound utility birds. Only time of year when I can get REAL meat for under $2 a pound... and turkey be delish.

So this is Kingston, did this happen after the update?

Please state your audio interface and OS.
First thing to do is update your drivers and firmware for it. Please confirm the versions you are running afterwards.

What XLN synth are you using for drums (AD2?). Regardless go to XLN installer and update it. Confirm you have done this.

How is your midi clock set up?

Next step will be checking for latency issues.

ok just a paste from a PM to Wookie:
USB Tascam 1800, I tried all modes on that.. I have no idea what's goin on... seems that the process of saving the recording as it is being recorded is not working right... and I did see my CPU activity spike full a few times...  over of many hours of troubles shooting the issue. starting over with new projects.

The only other thing I came a cross was the XLN midi data was not working in time when it has always worked in the past as well... (XLN was not used on last recording). The problem with was the XLN midi data would not time out right in track unless I changed the tempo in PLAT to match the default tempo of the XLN data loop before putting it to track... then changing SPLAT timing to what I needed... and I bounced the midi data to a wave that sounded perfect.

this was all just a open a new project, setting it up with 1 XLN clip pulled out 3 minuets and recording like I have done many times with no issues... something is wrong here and frankly I can't record anything right now on two different closed systems. not even being close to the same setup...

the XLN issue was on both my systems as well...
but started with last months update (smashed timing) on my laptop.. but I was too busy so I just went to the other system to work on something else and figured that a fix would come this month.. . who knows maybe it was related to the last update....

Try what I suggested. The XLN online installer for updates is on your machine.

Driver updates here:
http://tascam.com/product/us-1800/downloads/

Confirm midi clock settings in sonar preferences and your OS version.

Have you rolled back to JP for comparison?  Rollback works quite well and knowing if the problems are only in K would be good info.

Don't wish to be seen as overriding that comment, but rolling back and it starts working again won't prove it's a Sonar issue or not, and it's harder to diagnose a moving target. I don't have this issue with AD2 and Kingston for instance so I think there is something else going on. I would roll back when all troubleshooting steps are exhausted IMHO.

Midi clock source in sonar preferences is? um... only one works... even if you change it in the interface and in splat it goes back to default on both cases, but was a workaround issues.. "just using as it" lol...
Confirm issue began under Kingston or not? I guess not.. it could have started last month. but I was mixing so who knows... all I do know is that this month I can NOT RECORD.... so today I try to rethink this Membership deal and relax... and look at other DAWs :(

yeah to note, I do agree that many factors come into play with diaging a software problem. but when the only change that was made has to do with one software package as the only thing to change in the last two or three months on my main system....  well I did add a few waves pluings, maybe its their fault... they did rip off the CCC idea from CW.. lol
so who knows... I will just call cakewalk this week :), I'm sure they love me... HA!

Read your last post (still needs editing BTW). Apologies but I'm going to have to ask you yet again your OS version and midi clock setting (not sure what 'the one that works' is).

For the moment anyway please disable antivirus.

New question, if you turn on the metronome for playback confirm whether audio, AD2 and/or metronome goes out of time. Is the issue with playback or record now?

If record, now you've done the updates are you able to record successfully now?

If playback well guess we are going to start looking at latency...
