Mobious Strip of Love to the 3rd Power (Re Mix)

I was concerned something might happen and this song would end up on the dust heap of immemorial.

I think it is a decent mix.  There are some PFFFght on the vocals.

I would probably back off on the Rapture.  No, I would definitely back off on the Rapture.

There is plenty automation here, but I hear things I would tweak already.

Not to dissatisfied with the mix. There is some movement.

This is the first guitar I have recorded.

Please do not take offence but it does rather sound like it has been recorded in a box, it sounds constrained, which could be down to the MP3 encoding, though not overly compressed.

Perhaps that is what you were aiming for I do not know.

cool groove - in my modest opinion vocals need to come down in the mix - they dominate the song too much and there's some really cool stuff going on that I can't hear.

    Hi Jesse,

Good groove, as Daryl said. If I was playing the comparison game again, Talking Heads come to mind. I'd like to hear it break out of the Rapture arpeggio into something else here and there, but that's just a personal preference.

I read that song title as Moobious Strip of Love and immediately thought of.......Bapu Gone Bad.... (sorry Jesse, an inside joke).

I too like this groove and agree with Daryl......the other instruments are somewhat buried in the mix with the vocals and with a little EQ'ing, you can bring more clarity to the rest. You have a good thing going on here and I like hearing the different style/genre you bring........keep it up!!

Hello Sirs, thanks for the listens,

I think some of my issues stem from the fact that I saved the file as an mp3 from sonar, and then dropped it into Audition, tweaked it there, and then saved it as an mp3 again, and then it got down sampled again when I posted it.  When I listened to it on the Soundclick site it did sound very bad. I shouldn’t have even posted it.

Wookie, I take no offense at all. I don’t get offended easily, especially by the truth.

To the rest of the commenters, thanks for the encouragement.  I appreciate the fact that you are willing to listen to something different.

So, I have a new mix.  I can hear a few things I would change but I think I might be getting closer. Could you all let me know if I have made it better?  I tried to take all your suggestions.

    Thanks all

    Jesse,

When I saw your name on a post directed at me, I thought for sure that I'd listened to your material. It turns out I did but hadn't commented. I've listened to two songs (this being one of them). In both cases I came away with the same feeling - I wasn't quite sure what to think of it. Yes, it is different for sure - does it fit into one of my  musical categories - no (that of course can simply be attributed to my limitations). I came away trying to decide if this was music or performance art. I'm still not sure. Either way, it's an interesting listen and worth checking out. Maybe it will grow on me - although I'm a little old for that - but you never know. Keep doing what you're doing.

Thanks Mr. Manny, it is not you who is limited.  You, my good man, are a musician.  I am a haphazard twaddler.

    Can you play slide guitar?

I have a song about a farm, and maybe you could play the slide guitar part i wrote for it.

You're not to old man.  You are flying through life, flutter my friend, flutter.

    Jesse

Let me know if you would consider playing slide guitar on the "my farm" song.

I'm fairly haphazard as well - always have been. You're right - age is relative but I've been around a long time.

Sorry - I can't play slide at all. I did try several years ago and it was a complete bust. I have enough trouble with frets.

    I will continue to flutter.
