Automation Volume

Is there a way to "nudge" the nods down a few .DBs, i find it very annoying trying to make minute changes in volume. Annoying enough as it is to highlight all the nods and drag them up or down. Is there a way similar to the properties option on individual nodes to nudge them down like .5dbs?

I don't know of a way to nudge the automation, but if I need to make relatively small or precise changes to an automation envelope I will first grab the lower edge of the track header and drag down so that the track becomes "taller." Then small changes become much easier to make.

Size does matter.

The Offset function may be what you're after.

Once I have the dynamics of the track where I want them, I'll use the offset to fine tune the entire track's volume.

You can also use the channel gain/trim at the top of the channel strip.

This *might* affect any dynamics processing further down the chain - thresholds/input gains might have to be tweaked.

You can also type the value directly into the properties dialog. I think it is in the right click menu for a node.

Offset is a great feature - except when you forget that it's on and wonder why your automation isn't working correctly. Not that I've ever done that, of course. Especially not yesterday

Using a plugin like MUtility (included in MFreeEffectsBundle) for volume/pan automation and adjusting the overall track level/pan as usual (by tweaking the volume fader/pan control on the track strip) is another way.

Doesn't SHIFT+Click move a dragged object 1/10th as much as a normal drag?  Or am I mixing that up with CNTRL+Shift?

rico, u are right for the DB levels however it doesn't seem to apply for the automation nodes. Trust me iv tried lol. and Drank, i was aware of that feature however itll only apply to 1 node at a time. Not very efficient when im using a mass amount of nodes. I am not really aware of this offset feature so i will look into it and try looking at the documentation i guess. Perhaps this could be a suggestion to the Bakers to add a feature to shift the whole automation line up or down a set amount perhaps similar to the way u use the properties option for individual nodes.

Craig can you explain what the offset actually does and how to use it?

You can shift the whole envelope up/down.

I'm not 100% sure of the correct way to do it, but with the entire track visible and the track maximised (best to do this in the parent track because you can make it higher than a take lane), click & drag  in the lower half of the track to highlight a range (make sure it encompasses the entire envelope), then move your cursor to the top until it turns into and up/down arrow separated by an I-beam on its side, then click & drag up/down.

It takes far more time to write down than actually do it
