Tascam FW 1884 works in win 10 X64

So navigating in Device Manager and installing the "Legacy" FW Driver in Win 10 is not as problematic as Win 8.1?

Thanks for making the guide that let me do it so easily, Tom I installed everything in compatibility mode, and as administrator. After rebooting, I was up and crawling (probably a long time until I can run with this one) 
I had one issue, when I (do not ask me why) turned the FW 1884 off, and on again when the pc was turned on, and windows crashed. Rebooted, and all is fine again.

Hmmmmmm under Win 7 I can turn my unit off/on with no crashes.
 
Does this happen every time? For me that would a bit of a bummer. I leave my DAW on 24/7 but flip off power to 
1) video monitor
2) powered audio monitors
3) RME
4) FW-1884
 

I tried to turn off - on the FW 1884 (3 times), when pc is turned on, and it crashes each time. Says something like "IRQL less or more", when collecting data, so there is probably something wonky in the driver / operator department.
Will try to retrace my installation tomorrow, to see if there is something I could have done wrong. Maybe do another installation, and this time make notes...

I tried again today to turn off and on the FW 1884, with the same results as I got yesterday. It could be down to my FW card. It is a ST Lab FW card with TI chip, and was the cheapest I could find in a store near me that day.
It is not a showstopper for me, that I cannot turn it off / on when windows is running, so I will try to learn it some more, before I (maybe) get another FW card, that is known to work. 
Will report back after playing some more with it.

Did you run the OCHI tool from the web site?
Curious for 2 reasons; does it work in Win 10 and verifying you have the TI chipset.
You saw the TI logo on the chip? It looks like the outline of the State of Texas...

I think Tom is correct in suggesting that my FW card is from the very outskirts of Texas... 
To be honest, I (for once) trusted the sales person that sold me the card. Shame on me 
The tool is working somewhat in Win 10. It only states 2 of my 16 Gb of RAM, and does not recognize OS. It also does not find any TI FW card, so I will have to find one myself

I believe that I used a Belkin with success before I went with an on-board FW. I don't think they are made anymore.

I have 3 PCIe cards, two different ADS and one Adaptec; all with the TI chipset.
Let me know if you hit a "brick wall".

Hopefully that should do the trick!
The ADS Pyro's and Adaptec's were the "bomb" at one time, but dried up.
It will be interesting to see if it was the card or the OS...
The last couple of days my FW(#1) has been a little "wonky".
I get into a session and she stops sending to Sonar.
In Sonar if I pull a fader, Mute, Solo, arm a track; all show up on the board, but she stops sending.
Have to re-boot windows to get her back. Gotta pull #2 out of mothballs and see what's what.

#1 has other "issues" as well.
I start it up, it falls out of "lock", let her idle a bit and re-boot her (the 1884) and all is well.
Until now of course when she stops "sending" to Sonar.
Well, stops sending period, I can't pullup the Tascam settings from her either.
X-Touch time?
Hope not, not yet anyway....

I pulled my Tranzport out of hibernation, just in case; 1884 #2 has some wonky keys.
Matt (RioJazz) must be "busy" with his X, he hasn't updated his thread lately.
Hope that's a "good" sign...

Updated to Win 10.
 
I installed the "legacy" driver after the upgrade.
 
I have a TI chipset FW interface.
 
Bummer. I get the Win 10 crash if I power off and then power up again.
 
Because I leave my DAW on 24/7 but only fire up my RME & FW-1884 when I start SONAR (etc.) this has to make me rethink my process.
 
Hopefully once I get a Behringer X-Touch this will all go away.

Yup, for now Tranzport is king.
 
I'm committed to Win 10 so sometime in 2016 X-touch may be the next big thing.

That was a really strange solution, but hope it works. Still waiting for my FW card.
