Even in a blank project there should at least be SOME activity. However if they DID manage to make Kingston sleek enough to not show activity in the perf module then... a) That's pretty cool b) They should probably design a more sensitive perf module Actually I've been kind of wanting a more detailed perf module for a while. Like maybe one you can hover over/click on and it shows more precise, real time figures on what Sonar is using in relation to everything else on the system. Mostly I'd like to see more about what's going on with my hard drives because the current "Yellow" for "All good" and "Red" for "D'oh!" isn't particularly helpful.

I have had projects that show little to no CPU activity. This is using the CB performance module not the task manager. The task manager is always going to show CPU usage. Where the PM is showing the buffers being emptied. How quickly they empty can mean no activity.

Yup. That's the one I'm referring to. I always have at least a little activity in the first core even on a blank project. I guess my system is getting a little old now and I use mechanical drives (not sure if HDD's vs. SSD's affect CPU useage). I think OP should describe what's in the project and/or open a large project with lots of synths/tracks/effects to see what's up.

Empty projects show no CPU usage in the Perf Module on my new machine running K. At least for as long as I am willing to stare at it. After adding several tracks, there is a small blip in the first core but it comes and goes. Mostly the Perf Modules is blank until something other than an empty track is added. This is different than J. In J there is a small steady indication in the first core with a new empty project. It could be due to the performance improvements. I don't know for sure.

What's the load on your system? My system is five years old, but an AMD cpu, and I usually show zero activity in a blank project. Looking at upgrading to a new system, hopefully soon.

Is that the screenshot in your avatar? That is extremely odd looking. You can usually see the various cores/threads and their individual levels and you have a solid bar? I suspect that a support call is in order.
