ELP Cover Song

This was done on a dare by the singer, who also played flute on this. It was a trip learning the guitar and bass lines on a couple of hours. It's not polished, but more of a loose jam.

I love me some ELP.  I don't hear to many covers of ELP.
The bass stands out as being very nice.  Did you play that?

The female vocals are a nice touch.  I think I would ask her to push it a little bit more.  Sounds like she might be holding back just a little bit.

Did you use midi files for any of this.

That violin solo at 3:30 is rockin!

Nice work on a well known tune.  Not a whole lot needed to take this to the next level.

So, Guitar, Bass and a little fiddle whilst just jamming eh? this explains why you have been missing having the extra arms grafted on

Nicely done for a jam Scott

Oh I have missed that fiddle of yours Scott, sweet

LOL Wookie!!!

What I meant was that with each track I jammed song with the previous track, etc. Unrehearsed, in other words. Thanks for the listen!

Hey, Scotty,

Very nice job on this cool cover of one of my old ELP favorites, (and of course the really excellent mid 90's Dokken remake)!

Great guitar playing, as always, she did a really nice job on the vocals, the flute was a cool idea, and your fiddle solo was absolutely smoking!!!  I'm amazed it didn't catch fire during that "fiddle shredding" toward the end there!

Outstanding work, great stuff!

Have a great week, Scott!

NICE COVER....
this is a classic tune....

ohgrant, you should pick up brain salad surgery.
LOL

not have it, just pick it up....

scotty,
as good as it is,
it could be tightened up.
and maybe, tightening up would just take the good live vibe out of it.....
so maybe, leave it alone!
LOL

but for a 'go for it' recording,
really well done.
of course, the added violin almost makes me think of a cross between the dregs and kansas....
and i love those two.
nice work!
you could stand to mix the bass/low end heavier...

I know this song!  It was played about every 4th rotation on radio station CHUM when we lived in Toronto. This is an excellent cover of the song.  I really like the addition of the flute and of course the fellow playing that fiddle (who could that be) really tore-it-up.

Excellent job Scotty.

Wonderful jam session! I loved the violin solo, of course. Rock-ish and full of energy, but with a nice clean sound. Lol it's hard to play rubato with yourself, isn't it?

I remember the original – didn’t like it very much – a bit too pseudo-mystical for me. I honestly like this more. She has a slight Chrissy Hynde thing going and I really like it and this treatment is “lighter” in that the entire feel is more casual rather than pretentious.
All the instruments sound create - nice mix as well.
The violin solos playing across from each other are really nice. Some classy playing. Good stuff!

Sounds great,  I like that it is a loose jam.  Never was an ELP fan but certainly enjoyed this song.  The musicianship is outstanding.

GREAT SCOTT!!!  it's Scotty!  good to see you back here, Scotty!

I've always loved this song!  big ELP fan

love that flute
love her voice
nice acoustic

there are some parts where the timing is off and could be tightened up some.
I'd turn the bass up some.

there's that fiddle!  love it!

not fond of the "moving stereo" effect on the fiddle, tho.  I'd leave it centered.

great work overall!
