Melodyne issue in Kingston

After I do region changes with melodyne and then bounce to clip, Melodyne stays in the clip name.

It was a little disconcerting at first, thinking I hadn't bounced it yet - but I kinda like that it shows me I've been there with it. .02

Are you saying this is intended behavior?

Doktor, I assume the jshep0102 knows that I'm asking if he has information to that effect.

I've been seeing this since JP or even older IIRC.

Understood Ed, I just moved from Sonar X3e Pro to JP which was unusable for me, then to kingston, which has a couple of issues: this with melodyne, and Ivory II is unusable in Kingston. So far it looks like I have to keep using X3e..shame though...I wanted to take that ReMatrix reverb for a spin

Ivory II is kind of a bummer, but for me until it's fixed I have quite a few "usable" pianos until (hopefully) it's fixed in the December release.

Ivory II is the only VSTi that is not working for me in Kingston as I just tested every 3rd party VST/VSTi when I made the cut over to Win 10 this past weekend.

Hey Ed, do you happen to know if the Melodyne bounce to region issue is intended?

This clip naming behavior was definitely happening before Kingston.  Possibly before JP or even earlier.  I can remember having to rename clips after applying Melodyne more than 6 months ago irrc.

All it does is add Melodyne to the front of the name. If you are zoomed waaaay out, all you see is Melodyne, but the rest of the clip name is there. I think this is smart if you import tracks from previous versions of a song. You know when you used Melodyne and before you had.

I actually like this change for exactly that reason!  It lets me know at a glance what I've "Melodyne'd" and what I haven't.   I don't think I've reverted to editing any clip names after the fact, but I suppose it's always an option.

Hi, twisted6s, short of going back to X3e, you might be able to roll back to a pre-JP version of Platinum that works for you. If you right-click on Sonar Platinum in the Command Center, you should see this option.

But..... if the Melodyn'd clip naming is the going forward way of doing it Tony only has to disable the 64bit switch in Kingston until the Bakers address the issue.

I believe I just read a thread where scook discovered that disabling 64bit double precision will let ivory work for now...

    Hi Tony,

Very early in the Platinum life cycle we addressed an issue where bouncing to clips would produce a clip with no name. Now clips keep their original name when bounced. To determine if a clip currently has a region effect on it, look for the RFX indicator on the top RH corner.

We are currently looking into the issue with Ivory and other synths where the output is distorted when 64 bit double precision is enabled. We would like to address this as soon as possible. In the meantime you can disable this option in Preferences - Audio - Driver Settings.

Basically 64 bit DP allows the synth and other plugins that support this to pass through full 64 bit audio. There are some headroom benefits to this setting, however fidelity and quality should not be different. You would get more fidelity benefit from using the Upsample on Playback or Upsample on Render options on the plugin UI (top LH corner windows menu).

    Thanks!

I agree...the change is good, but it would be cool if it only pre-appended "MLDN" or something that took up less space for the reason mentioned.

Um, I'm not sure why the prefix or tag or whatever it's called needs to be hard-coded. I don't see why you couldn't have a table in the Options panel somewhere where you could change the "friendly" modifier name (from the default) to whatever suits the user, the way I could with "friendly" i/o names, like:
