I take it the scratchy static sounds aren't what those patches should sound like?  I've heard worse with some synth presets.

I've got Sylenth and Platinum (though haven't used the two together).

I've got a busy day ahead, but if no one else has responded or can reproduce, I will test it later this evening.

SonarPlat/CWbBL, Win 10 Pro, i7 2600K, Asus P8Z68 Deluxe, 16GB DDR3, Radeon HD5450, TC Electronic Impact Twin, Kawai MP11 Piano, Event ALP Monitors, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Too Many Plugins, My lucky hat.

I can reproduce. I'm getting the exact same thing regardless of what patch is played.

Sonar Platinum, Windows 7 64-bit OS, Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 2.93GHz, 8 GB RAM, Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, MCU Pro, Alesis Q49, Oxygen 25.

Awesome! Thanks TD75, I hate to say that's good news ... but that's really great news that it's just not me or my system!

Sorry, couldn't get to it last night.  But good to see TD75 can reproduce.  Has either of you submitted to CW with the steps to reproduce?  It's much less likely to get fixed if it's not reported "officially":

I can confirm synth problems in Sonar Kingston with iZotope Iris 2 and Novation Bass Station (software synths).  These synths work in Jamaica Plain.  Updated to Kingston and these synths make only static noise.  Roll back to JP, and they work fine.  I did this back and forth twice with this same result.  Report filed with Cakewalk.
Finally, I just moved to Kingston and stopped using these products.

So far disabling the 64bit Double Precision Engine in Preference > Audio > Driver Settings has solved this for several other synths. Give it a try.

When it came to Iris2, I could only make it fail using the VST2 format. The VST3 was unaffected by the 64bit DPE setting.

That right there tells me a change was made to VST3 handling in Kingston which had an impact on VST2.

Even as a programmer myself, I could still be wrong.

Could have been a change to VST2 handling which was not required for VST3?

Dear scook,
My hat is off to you sir!  Your information has resolved my problems with the synths Iris 2 and Novation Bass Station.
I realized that I have been loading the VST 2 version of Iris.  I changed that to the VST 3 version.

What is the downside (if any) of not using the 64 bit precision engine?

Thanks again for your help and also to Cakewalk for quickly alerting me to your forum post.  What a wonderful group of people!

There is some question whether running the 64bit DPE all the time provides any benefit. I usually have it disabled and rely on the bounce and export dialogs to control when it is used. Even then, I am not sure what I do benefits from having it enabled. I would suggest testing and see if it makes a difference in your case.

Well, I guess I wouldn't have been able to repro this anyway, since I have double-precision setting turned off.

Great that a simple workaround exists.

You own Dan Date from CW the Coke. It was his idea. I just tested it and spread the word when it worked for me.

I only have 64bit SONAR installed. I do not recall any report specifically mentioning 32bit SONAR or details about the plug-ins other than the plug-in name.
