Monitorizer: trouble trying to set up the Master send

I'm trying to follow these instructions to use the Monitorizer FX Chain and when I get to #6, I can't assign the send to the new Monitorizer bus (or any bus for that matter).  The only thing there is "none", the sound card, and all of the (create) new items.  I try insert send assistant...same thing. Nothing in existing bus drop down except for "None" and the sound card and the create "new" items.  I've tried creating a new bus from the Master send menu, but that bus cannot route back to the master...only to "none" and the sound card.  I suppose this could be a PBCAK (problem between chair and keyboard), but I've tried this many different ways and just can't make it work.  Any thoughts?

To use the Monitorizer FX Chain

1. Insert a new stereo bus or Aux track and name it Monitorizer.
2. Assign the bus/Aux track output to the Master bus, and set the Volume control to 0.
3. In the Browser, click the PlugIns button to show the Plug-in Browser.
4. Under Audio FX, expand the FX Chain branch.
5. Click Anderton Collection > Processors, then drag the Monitorizer preset to the Monitorizer bus/Aux track’s FX Rack.
6. Create a post-fader send in the Master bus, and assign the send to the Monitorizer bus/Aux track. Set the Send Level to around -3.

Try this.

1. Create a Monitorizer bus or Aux Track that terminates wherever the master bus terminates. Set the fader to 0.
2. Insert the Monitorizer into this bus.
3. Create a post-fader send in the master that goes to the Monitorizer bus. Set the Send Level to around -3.
4. The Monitorizer FX chain defaults to a reasonably realistic effect, but you can use the controls to customize the effect further.

Thanks John, but your step 3 is where I have trouble...the Monitorizer bus is not presented as an option in the master bus send menu. The only routing options are "none", the sound card and the insert new items. I don't think I've ever set up a send on the master bus, so the issue may have always been there...not anything to do with the Monitorizer. I'll give this a go on a new test project and see if I have any luck. Thanks again for trying to help!

How about making a sub master buss? Route the aux return out to the sub master and the sub master to the master buss.

I have the same issue Marc. The option to route the output from the Monitoriser bus back into the master bus (from a send from the master bus) does not exist. Would this not create a feedback loop? Am I not understanding the instructions correctly?
My workaround was to output the monitoriser to the soundcard, then the master to the monitoriser bus. I could not work out why this would work one way and not another. Then again it's late and I'm not thinking straight.

@John, thanks I'll give that a try after work.

@Wayne, yeah I wondered the same thing about a feedback loop.  I can't see any existing bus from the master send panel or insert send assistant...

I'm not sure where you got those instructions? They're not correct, so please let me know and I'll have them corrected. The eZine documentation I wrote is what you should follow:

The crucial line is "Wherever the master bus terminates." Typically this will be an audio interface output. You want the monitorizer bus to go to the same place. In the following screen shot, the Master is terminating in my TASCAM US-4x4 interface (outlined in red), and the Monitorizer terminates to the interface as well (also outlined in red). This allows creating a send from the Master to the Monitorizer bus.

Hope this helps...

@John: Sorry I didn't understand your earlier post.  And thanks again for trying to help.

@Craig:  Thanks for creating this FX chain.  I have to work in headphones a lot and Monitorizer will give me another tool to help mix more effectively/realistically.  Kudos...

Someone should do a youtube tutorial on this. I'm having trouble with step #6. Or if someone could break it down step by step would be helpful.

DITTO
this is potentially a great tool as I and many others pretty much only use headphones, be great to have a simple tutorial video, mainly just to check i have it set up correctly.

There is no step 6 in Post #9, which has the correct instructions. If there's still a problem following those steps, circle back here and I'll walk you through it.
