Zooming centered on Now time? Select time range with keyboard?

Zooming centered on Now time? Select time range with keyboard?

I'm using X3...
 
Is there a way to use the alt-mouse wheel zoom feature but have it center around the Now time.  I.E. keep the Now time centered in the clips pane while zooming in/out?
 
Also, is there a way to horizontally scroll the now time with the mouse wheel?
 
How about select a time range with the keyboard?

    There are many complaints about zoom .. afaik, still a problem in Platinum (at least for the H revision, which I use).   CW loves to make you click and click and click.
