Hollywood Strings Set-Up

Do you normally use a separate instance of Play for each string part?  In other words, one instance for 1st Violins, one instance for 2nd Violins, etc.?

EastWest recommends separate instances but, oddly, they say to use one instance for legato parts and they don't explain what other instances to use.  I would think that and instance per section would be logical (and that's what I have always done with Hollywood and Vienna).

Since I installed an SSD for orchestral libraries, I am going to be doing some more complex orchestration.

I use one instance for each section. I normally have about 6-8 articulations in each instance of Play. Legato, couple of shorts, trems and so on. Makes the most sense to me.

I just got started with the EWHO and did a project with 4 instances, one each of strings, brass, woods and percussion. I got a lot of cracks and glitches and they came only from the strings. I then parted the strings in two instances and most of the glitches disappeared. So, it definitely gets better to split in many instances. I read something about every instance can split up on different cores, so if your computer have 8 cores it can read 8 instances (sort of) simultaneously.

Interesting about having one instance mainly for legato, have you got any improvements by doing so?
