Snakes in the City
Well here I go again --- mixing up genre I mean. When I started I meant for this to be a hard driving rockabilly song but when I put the vocals to it sounded as if it were contaminated with a bit of bluegrass high lonesome-ish harmony. So, I'm claiming that the genre is Billygrass. Oh well, if I only knew what I was doing. Anyway I hope it gives you a bit of a chuckle and as always comments would be appreciated. Thanks. I like your rockabilly grassification on this song!! The vocals reminded me of "what goes on" by the Beatles......nicely mixed and performed......had my foot-a-tappin!!

Hi Jorge: Thank you for listening and thank you for the kind words. Thank you Mesh! Your creative use of the word grassification brought a smile to my face. I had to look it up in the urban dictionary. I don't think that their definition would be compatible with how you used it --- or --- maybe it would (lol).?! I appreciate your kind comments and I'm glad that it brought a bit of movement to your foot. Thanks again. Hey Daryl. I very much appreciate the kind comments. I just get so confused with genre (he said with tongue in cheek). Hi Antti. I'm very glad that you liked it. I appreciate that you listened to it and thank you for the encouragement.

Overall it sounds good but something seems just a tad off in the rhythm -- like the drums and the rest of the instruments are slightly out of sync. I'd like to hear it with the mix spread out more -- the lead guitar (which was in my left ear) needs to move away from the center and needs some tweaking compression-wise (and eq) to make it stand out more (or it could be the volume). Or, I could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time that's for sure. Other than that, good stuff :)

Freddy, as always, your write clever and witty social commentary. This is a terrific song, and I would like to hear the lead vocal a bit louder to better hear your words. The rest of the song has a good roadhouse feel and would be right at home in my favorite BBQ joint. Just keep bending those genres and it will be a good new year.

This is a nice bit of song here. I think the vast amount of reverb on the guitars puts them to far back. Well done!!

Me glad you dig Billygrass. Thanks for your comments, Steve. I appreciate your listening and commenting. Remember, stay in the shade to keep your cool daddy-o. Hi Tom. I really liked the last song that DT posted on the forum. Good stuff!!! I hope that you had a good Christmas and thanks for the kind words. Hi John. Thanks for listening and I appreciate your comments. I'm glad that you liked this number. Hey Allan. Thanks for listening and thanks for the input. Determinations, by others, as to what I should be doing with my time often interferes with my desire to what I think is important (i.e., playing around with silly songs). However, I will make the time to go back and listen to this number with a more critical ear -- keeping in mind what you are suggesting. Thanks again. Hey Lynn. It is great to hear you back on the forum. I really liked the number that you just posted. I will go back to the working files for this song and bring the vocals up front more. Thanks for listening and for your valued suggestions. Oh ya - and as long as I don't know what I am doing - no genre is safe from being all mixed up with something else (lol). Hi Robert. Thanks for listening and for your suggestion. It looks like I need to go back and consider a few corrections to make on this number (suggestions above). I will certainly do the same with the reverb. Thanks.
