External Insert WOES export and freeze

SO last night I was working on a project where I inserted two External Inserts on two vocal tracks, using tc helicon devices, A Voice works for the lead and a VL1 for a harmony tracks, using a Liquid Saffire 56 extra  I/Os for the send and returns.
 
After fighting to get everything working(and thats another thing, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnt) I tried to do an export mixdown of the project, FAST BOUNCE was not checked, and everytime I started the export the audio engine stopped , thus no audio was recorded.
 
So I wonder if I can freeze the two tracks in question with the fx being printed to the frozen track, then  bypass the external insert so I can mix/export?
