Clip Envelope Editing Issue Kingston

I have had an ongoing issue with editing clip envelopes, (actually it's all envelopes), using the smart tool for some time now, (goes back to the 'X' series).  Sometimes editing works, sometimes it doesn't. No apparent rhyme or reason.  Very random.  In addition to that, the red envelope doesn't always revert to black when you change the filter back to 'clips'.  Closing the take lanes and reopening them most times seems to fix that.  However, in previous updates, that process of closing the take lanes, (when the editing didn't work), seemed to hang, it was very sluggish.  Kingston appears to have fixed that part but I'm still having the envelope editing issue.

I think this is related: Recently I had a track just lock up when I was having the editing issue.  I tried the usual 'closing of take lanes', changing the clip filter but nothing worked.  The entire track locked up. In other words, whatever I clicked did not respond!  Everything else in the project seemed to work, just not this track. It wouldn't let me do anything to it! I went to another track and edited, no problems. Shut down Sonar, no dice. Reboot the computer, nothing!

I ended up rolling back to JP.  Is anyone else having this envelope editing issue?  Anyone ever see this 'lock up' behavior?

Any suggestions, help or ideas are welcome.  Thank you.

This issue was split from a previous post.  Here's a link to that post:

The only one I've ever come across is where changing a Take Lane's filter to Clip Gain (or Pan) doesn't switch back when changing it back to Clips.  Most (or all) of the time the main Track's Edit Filter is also set to Clip Gain/Pan and changing that back to Clips reverts all of the lanes.    However, it's very much hit or miss and I have yet to come up with a reproducible set to steps.  But I haven't seen this behavior in the main parent track nor had any crashes.

Thanks for replying Steve.  It's been an ongoing thing for me.  I do hope someone looks into this one.

Sure, no problem.    If you have a reproducible test case it's probably worth submitting to the bakers.
