Pro channel effects rack

Does the routing go from top to bottom or bottom to top? Inquiring minds want to know.

If it's not in the mix, it's not in the master

I'm assuming it's top to bottom. Bottom to top would be counter-intuitive, no?

+1 the signal path is top to bottom, which is the convention carried forward from physical hardware.

It is indeed top to bottom.

Underneath is a link to a signal flow chart for Sonar, which makes a lot of the routing clearer.

From the  link to the documentation I am unable to determine what the signal flow is when both the PC and the Tracks FX rack ore engaged. Do they run in parallel or series? I cannot devise a test to convince myself which is the case. I post this at the risk of owing William for what is obviously solicited input.

Craig I know its in the documentation but each time I get looking for it, I get distracted by cooler stuff to learn about. I live in the Pro Channel so its just a point of inquiry.

By default the PC is before the fx rack. There is an option in the PC context menu to run the PC after the FX rack.

So from the chart posted by jb101

it looks like a soft synth input comes into the signal chain before the ProChannel.  But the only way the ProChannel default EQ shows any signal (frequency response display behind the grid) on a soft synth channel is if I choose the "post-effects rack" setting in the context menu.  This suggests that the soft synth signal actually inputs after the ProChannel by default and is treated like an effect in the effects rack, no?

No, the spectrum of a live soft synth should display with the PC in the default pre-FX position. Make sure the 'Power' button in the upper right corner is engaged.
