trouble installing Waves plugin
I recently updated Waves Central - and I just purchased PS22 a week ago. But after I "installed" it, I can't find it in Sonar. So I contacted Waves. They said... "Go to C:\Program files(x86)\Waves\Plug-ins V9 and see if you can find .bundle files of the missing plugins. If you find it, please follow these steps to refresh Waves Preferences:- Quit any Audio-related software on your PC.
- Hit the Start button, type %appdata% and select Roaming.
- In Roaming Locate the folder Waves Audio and move it to the Desktop.
- Start Sonat X3. If asked to locate the plug-ins, point to C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V9.
If you couldn't find the missing plugins in folder:- Close Sonat X3
- Run Central and log in
- Select Install Product
- Install from Online and make sure to select products you have in your account and wish to use with this computer.
- Click Install and wait for the installation to finish."
So I did the first suggestion (I had already done the second suggestion) and found the PS22. But when I moved the Waves folder to my desktop, as they said to do, nothing happened. I admit I'm not good with computers, but I think the way Waves has their Waves Central set up now is a bit confusing (for me, anyway). And Waves doesn't seem to have answers. Any suggestions about what might work? Thanks! Greg

Getting Waves plugins to work is a two-step process. After you install the plugin, you need to move its license from the Waves license cloud to your PC. You don't mention any issue with SONAR finding the WaveShell-VST 9.6_x64 file(s), so I'm assuming you still need to activate that plugin. Sorry if I'm wrong. Once the plugin shows up on your PC, you should be good to go. Hope this helped.

Hi The Maartian - When in Waves Central, I downloaded the plugin (PS22) from online. But it does not show up in Waves Central nor in Sonar. I did what Waves told me to do and found the Waves plugin in the Roaming folder. And Waves told me to move that folder to the desktop, which I did. But the plugin still does not show up anywhere. The Waves plugins I downloaded before I upgraded Waves Central are all there. But PS22 is not. So I can't activate it. Thanks! Greg (and I appreciate you making the effort to post the photos)

Trying to understand... Are you saying that you WERE able to install from the Waves Central screen below, but then it didn't show up for activation on the screens I posted above?

It wasn't that particular screen. There is a screen in Waves Central where you can choose to see wither your licenses or see all Waves products online. That screen is where I found and downloaded PS22. But after that, it is not in any of the screens you posted. Just curious: How do you find Waves plugins to download? Maybe the way I did it is incorrect. Thanks! Greg

greg54 Just curious: How do you find Waves plugins to download? Maybe the way I did it is incorrect.
Two ways, depending on where you bought the plugin. If you bought it from Waves direct, it's already in your My Products list online (that is, already registered). When you log into Waves Central, it should show up, and you can install quote/unquote normally. If you bought from a third party, and they emailed you a code, you need to log in to your Waves account and register the code. That will place it in your My Products area and allow you to proceed as I mentioned above. You don't need to "download" the plugin separately. That's what "Install" does. The old Waves licenser would let you install ALL plugins, even ones for which you had no license. And you had to remember to leave existing plugins ticked, or they would uninstall. The transition to the new Waves Center combines the licensing and downloading, which I like, and am getting used to. Install is easy. Figuring out uninstall? That was WAY less than intuitive.

I bought it from Audio Deluxe. They sent me a code, but I guess I don't understand how to register the code. Thanks! Greg

with the NEW waves Central it IS rocket Science dont feel bad, it is trying, and sometimes the steps are not clear, but basically if you buy third party stuff, its register first, then download/and or activate then scan in plug in manager and add to your vst list my waves central insisted on putting the 64bit shell in x86 folders and was a fun time in the beginning

Where I left them. All 4 shells (32- & 64-bit VST2 & VST3). There are other copies floating around if you run search from the root of your app drive. It was really a mess when I stupidly installed the SoundGrid Studio, just to see what it was. That added 4 more shells (v9.7 IN ADDITION TO the v9.6 ones (face palm)) and some apps for which there was NO uninstall. I had a really fun time getting rid of that mess. And I still don't know what it's good for. Probably nothing, anyway. Lesson learned. Just because you can (install a freebie), doesn't mean you should.

OH BOY that Piece of work , the sound grid studio is causing ALL kinds of issues for me, the soundgridprotocol.sys is causing me a BSOD, trying to use the uninstall routine crashes my PC.. I manually removed anything with the name sound grid and probably still have remnants of it on my system but cant clean them. I feel your pain

I feel your pain .. purchased waves 'on sale', big bundle of the platinum variety. Doesn't work, don't have the time or patience to wait on their customer service, yet. Waves Central is very much like Cakewalk Command Center. sheesh.

Now that I've taken a closer look at that image: 1) I've never seen it before (how'd you get there?), and 2) that's a setup for peeps who keep there studio PCs offline (get everything stable and then shut down all automatic (or most or all) updates). What that does is create an installer for an authorized/activated/licensed plugin that you can run on the destination PC. No wonder you and Waves support were sideways. Happy you get things sorted out!

Hello, My set up Windows 10 64 bit Sonar Platinum 21.9 12 -2015 Purchased the Waves Gold on sale. They work just fine in Studio One V3 Professional but not in Sonar. I go to: Plugin Layout > Cakewalk plug-in manager x64 all the Waves plugins appear in the Registered Plugin list Then I went to add an Waves audio fx to an audio clip insert effect > audio fx > VST2 and the Waves plugins are not on this list. Same issue wtih the Process Effects. All the other audio FX work just fine. What should I do? I am debating to choose Sonar or Studio one for my Main DAW. I like both DAW’s but will prefer that Sonar is the Winner. I am lucky that Melodyne 4 works fine in Sonar. Please help if you can.
